I did my first camp of the year over the weekend, I had been going out most months in the last few years for a few days but with COVID I haven't wanted to go back to the usual spots because there are just so many people. It's hard to get any "nature" in the UK but there wasn't actually anyone about where I camped but it was more crowded than I've ever seen it walking on Saturday and especially driving back home, so many cars parked everywhere.

I see a lot of people with open fires here as well but there is a policy of "LEAVE NO TRACE" that most people try to adhere to. If everyone lit fires here the whole landscape would be affected in no time. There is very little natural habitat left in the UK, so it's not just about risk.

I would suggest a small gas stove (like an MRS pocket rocket), they're reliable, light and easy to use. With a single titanium pot (around 500-600ml) they pair well for a quick for cawfee or making noodles/dehydrated meals etc.
