The cops taking a knee and walking with the protestors was quite powerful. More of this, this will make the change

the rioting needs to stop but the vice squad need to step up and know when and how to deescalate a situation. this is as much on them as it is the protesters.

cops taking a knee is bullshit, it changes nothing about how vice squad are trained and vice squad departments operate

serious question, why should the rioting stop. what has any state or municipality done to meet the demands of the publicRufus T. Re: let's post some positive shit about these protests.
i forgot to include this in the last reply but why is this 'just as much on the protesters'. we've seen year after year, in city after city, it's always the vice squad that deliberately provoke, brutalize, and escalate, and they are positively ecstatic at the opportunity to do it. and they are also the ones gleefully executing innocent people with total impunity, sparking these outbreaks of widespread unrest in the first place. the prosecutors in MN only charged the one after they were forced to take action, and even then only after they had enough time to develop a strategy to tank the case (which should be readily apparent by the charges they actually leveled, immediately followed by their media strategy consisting of nonsense about "underlying conditions" and "potential intoxicants")
sure there is some opportunistic looting, who fucking cares. the losses are insured in the overwhelming majority of cases, and those that aren't can be made whole by carving it out of overstuffed vice squad budgets. the political will could be there if the people forced a response. you don't get there by holding hands with a bunch of bloodthirsty pigs who pose for a photo op and pinky-promise to Do Better Next Time™.

right! they're all paid handsomely even in normal circumstances, and obviously making a killing
on OT
and in the unlikely case any of them get put on leave temporarily, they'll still be paid full freight on their vacation before getting reinstated a month later. the unions need to be decertified and the departments all need to have their budgets ripped to shreds.

Pretty neat being salary but also collecting a fuck you amount of overtime. Just imagine if teachers got paid anywhere close to how well the vice squad do.

Re: let's post some positive shit about these protests.
Plenty of teachers have to take on part time jobs just to get by. That can jump to a few part time ones when the summer months roll in because they aren't getting paid by their county.
My wife would probably still be teaching and making fat ass bank if they paid teachers what they should. You probably also wouldn't have teacher shortages to the point some places are trying to get retirees to come back and be long term subs.
I think in the 10 years she was there, the county rolled out 1 or 2 proper raises that they were entitled to. The rest of those years when raises were due they either got 1% raises or a shitty cost of living.
