I know a few people that went out there and then moved back a couple years later. super expensive (not just housing but the cost of goods too) and isolated. if you have the means and don't mind being so far from everything it's probably paradise though.

whatever you do, don't move to Florida. it's not worth it!

My old roommate lived in Hawaii for about a year and came back for exactly the reasons you stated. Apparently it's also quite difficult to get a job there of you're not originally from the island(s).

i've heard the natives aren't super welcoming
