Re: Beyond Burger
I am not sure meat substitutes are healthier than meat considering the processing that goes ibto them. Then there is the sugars and fillers I would rather stick with meat as a condiment. With prices soaring dont think theres a choice there anyways.

Re: Beyond Burger
So much unhealthy things are in these substitutes.
My beef, chicken and pork all come from local farmers here.
Sometimes we just make dinner without meat nor subs, which is a better option IMO.

Re: Beyond Burger
It sure is healthier for the cattle And us humans will benefit from the lower co2 emissions. I had the plant based whopper and that was alright Also looking forward to seeing lab grown meat in supermarkets

I’ve had the beyond chicken before. I didn’t know it wasn’t chicken until someone told me so. Was actually pretty good! Haven’t tried their burger though.

I don't eat animals, I've had the McPlant twice since it was launched in October here? It's okay. I don't tend to buy MOCK MEAT though.

Re: Beyond Burger
Thats never healthy. Only eating apples isnt healthy. Only eating fish isnt healthy. You need variety to get all the needed nutrients, vitamines and minerals. Keep it fresh and organic and try to buy local. Thats my take on it. I stay away from all this fake meat for which amazon forests are being burned to make way for soy plantations (not saying they all do this) but be aware of supply and demand and mass produce.
Sure there are these tomato or mushroom based burgers, and they can be great and they can be healthy. But double check their ingredients on salt levels, bamboo fibers (yes, really) and a lot of other things that are not approved by health authorities.
Real fruit, real meat, real vegatables - from local farmers, if possible.
And even then its still a deep rabbit hole if we look at the Organic label and if it really is that (produced without pesticides). There are still a lot of farmers who have an Organic label but still use approved pesticides which kill the bee population and many other insects. The big picture is a lot more complicated.

Re: Beyond Burger
Soy demand is from meat/animal agriculture. Human consumption of soy as a food accounts for a much smaller percentage than most expect.

Also, buying a vegetable from across the planet is more environmentally friendly than eating a locally reared cow.

Now, lets assume none of that is true, it still doesn't excuse the torture, rape and murder of sentient beings. The big picture is complicated but lots of things within this big picture are not.

Re: Beyond Burger
Considering he implied all farms torture and rape their animals and vastly under simplified things I am unsure of that.
There is no right or wrong meat has its place as do alternatives. We need variety in our diets period. Tofu, miso, many soy products are healthy I question transforming healthy food into “meat”.
The process with additives and sugars is questionable as with anything. I doubt it matters unless its eaten daily anyways. You should not eat beef daily either.
I could go into a tangent on how gmos are not the big scary devil as soy is unfairly attacked for this but nobody gives a shit.
