Nipah, fatality rate is estimated at 40% to 75%. No vaccine :rocker: We might not reach 17 pages for this one.

the delta variant will not be the final terror variant

but the people whose vaccine refusal leads to more terror variants will continue to not get vaccinated

leading to more variants, and so on

perhaps their cumulative loss of life will balance out the coming widespread voter disenfranchisement :bulb:

I found this nice visualization that illustrates the risks of covid infection for vaccinated vs unvaccinated.

the risk for vaccinated persons are very acceptable I think. If you're unvaccinated you're certainly taking a much larger chance.

and this is assuming that things remain as they are, which they won't because of plague rats causing more variants.... one can only hope that the vaccines continue to hold up against the onslaught.

I recently met a conspicary theorist in real life. We were having dinner in a little group and he started with conspiracy theories. Graphite in our blood stream after vaccination so we can be controlled by 5g waves. Bill Gates owns all health care. A small upper class will control all humans 2.0. Funny how he picked up ideas that were put online by strangers on other continents. He believes all this and not the main stream media. All journalism is apparently bought by a secret group of evil people. He's a reasonable man in daily life

some of the dumbest people I've ever met were people that were highly educated. it seems like one can be brilliant in some aspects of life - and yet be completely inept in others.

I think some of it is also the inability to admit when you’re wrong and instead double down on what you believe to be true. I’m not even talking about point of views per se, but rather when the facts present themselves contrary to what they hold to be true, they can’t even consider that they might be wrong.

This too omg i got into it when my aunt was spouting vaccines cause autism and cbd cures cancer. Its astounding I usually keep quiet with the conspiracy shit it usnt worth it but working in special needs that conspiracy really hurts our community especially medically fragile who often have to depend on others getting vaccines.

New lockdown in NL.

We're entering a technocratic society where we need to show our QR codes to enter more and more spaces.

i have no idea what moving forward looks like anymore. the vaccine is more or less available to anyone that wants it. i wonder what the response would be like if the people in charge just completely stopped all preventative measures and what not, does any side win here?

at this point, fuck them. Charge full price for treatment and ban them from all aspects of society. Let them quit their jobs in protest - no loss for the rest of us. Fucking plague rats.

the crank conspiracy shit drives me nuts because it usually takes one legitimate aspect of a societal failure and instead of trying to examine the actual phenomenon they just go 'uhhh goblins did it'

and there are a zillion of them and people will latch on to one or two things and imagine that if they could just vanquish this or that discrete goblin everything would be a-ok

'the deep state is democrats and they are literal demons who eat babies and i saw one of the babies getting eaten and the baby looked at me' would be a lot funnier to me if it didn't obscure the actual history of postwar deep politics
