geez, the most nostalgic ... i guess it would be the cluster of memories associated with school, the years 1992-7 in particular, but the memories are fading

fellating lover and I spent years building a treehouse in the woods from salvaged construction debris - I’ll always remember that because it took a lot of effort for just the two of us. Sadly it was eventually knocked down in a hurricane. Also Lots of video games (snes / n64 / desktop) and of course swimming / biking tons.

I guess, never did that. Video would be a harder decision, you can't click your way back to the video store and pick something else

i understand his point that if people go to a video store to rent something being more invested. they are more likely to probably watch the movie, rather than someone who flicks through netflix and starts watching. however, i dont understand why he thinks this is a bad thing. you could look at is as a positive. people who start watching a movie they arent really into now feel more free to stop watching after 10 min, instead of feeling they should watch the whole thing just because they have gone to the effort of going to the store.

What if the movie is a slow burner, and gets better after 10 minutes? Now we dont give it a chance

Also, people were more invested in everything before we became a life of buttons

I think you lose some focus when the choice is as easy as netflix (or a download). The film maker probably expected more from his audience than 10 minutes of focus and he wanted to use a full 1.5 or 2 hours. Some movies just need a bit of time. I remember this feeling to be even stronger with film on TV and you had one chance to watch the thing. You had to hold your piss out of fear to miss something.
Interesting discussion guys and a good relevant find by Billy :xx:

Searching in a video store was great. Spend hours searching, then the parents go out for a piss up, and stay up most of the night watch films.

Great days back then.

Took a month to get No Holds Barred.

Oh that smell of cigarette smoke in movie theaters. It was like entering someone's living room.
