Re: Now Watching
I'm almost done with the second season of Fargo. I've had a good time watching. Neither here nor there, but for whatever reason shows I've seen that have aired on FX have tended to be visually stunning. Sort of that dark but crisp lighting. I like that
I also fell into the habit of putting on Mike Tyson Mysteries while falling asleep. it's the perfect show under those circumstances

Finished yesterday. Story of cocaine dealer who sells to rich people, parliament members, tv celebrities in Warsaw. It's based on book by writer Jakub Żulczyk, who is now charged for calling polish president "moron".

i watched shallow grave yesterday, and had one of those moments i haven't had in a long time when you see a scene and hear dialogue and you know it is straight from a metal song sample intro

absolute fucking masterclass, man. if tarkovsky lived long enough to see it, he'd have wished he could've had a scene like that in his oeuvrehead dirt wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 09:05When Ronnie breaks the gay man's telescope in time with the song :::::::jawn galliano wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 09:03man i was so hyped for the kid rock scene

Re: Now Watching
oh yeah don't bother with the sequel, just another dumb cash in that tarnishes the first film
while pitch black and the descent are different in many ways they are also provocative to compare in many others thus my invocation of the comparison. the descent is one of my fave horror movies ever

One of my favorite lines was during the run with Kasper.head dirt wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 09:01The Shieldjawn galliano wrote: ↑04 Apr 2021, 08:11been rewatching the shield the last few weeks, almost wrapped up with season 3 now. it is every bit as absurd as i remember and just thoroughly a blast to watch
The first episode would've been so much better if the director had used literally any other song than Bawitdaba for the montage scene
But the early 00 tropes that are all over that show are what give it it's charm
Mackey says something along the lines of him not being able to imagine Kasper holding it down with some nubian mattress monster.

i haven't seen boogie nights in aaages, i should get it
kill chain is not bad. i am a sucker for nic cage. any and all. because he is like john travolta, he can be good, but when he is bad, he is so bad he is good. like the perfect unit
branded to kill is a classic. not what you expect from the first 15 minutes which are pretty straight. highly recommended

Re: Now Watching
i thought the suspiria remake was awesome. it was a bit long and bloated and self-indulgent but otherwise i really liked the different approach and its attempts to ground the story in 70s berlin, the exposition and greater narrative connection. the final reveal scene was jolly good, it should have ended the film, but alas it didn't. i agree that the male character played by swinton didn't really add much to the film but at least it gives the viewer a reason to leave the dance studio every once in a while
overall very different, in fact different enough to be more like a kind of reimagining of source material rather than a remake of the 1977 film. but of course that's not what it is, it all flows from the 1977 film. the focus on breathing and dance was very cool. you should watch it again skinno

Fuck yes
Legit might be one of my favorite stretches of any tv series. Anthony Anderson might have had the 2nd best run of episodes on that show though.

"For All Mankind" - seriously good alternate-history take on the space race.
"Galavant" - very fun musical piss-take of just about every fantasy trope ever.
