hey stormy (some jawn talk)

Post by zim »

so i have always wanted a leather jacket, biker style. did my research and discovered it to actually be a schott classic perfecto (https://www.schottnyc.com/products/clas ... jacket.htm). can't say i'm down with that price though :oldryan: are there any other brands worth pursuing, are the cheap versions worth the money? it's a classic look with the metal dudes but part of me thinks they weren't dropping $800 on leather jackets but maybe

i'm looking for one like the picture below. the lapel in this style seems longer than the classic perfecto and it also has zip sleeves. any ideas?

where leather is concerned, the cheap stuff is 100% not worthwhile, they're usually "genuine leather" which is mostly poly-blend garbage. cheap materials and shitty construction, you can probably get a couple years out of one but it won't wear well.

as far as biker jackets go, the perfecto is a timeless classic and you can't really go wrong there. leathers tend to be pricey if you want to get them pristine off the rack, but if you're willing to go secondhand you can get some killer jackets dirt cheap. i wear a rick owens bullet jacket which runs ~$2600 new, but i got mine used for like $400. i am absolutely certain you could score a real deal perfecto for well under that.

if you're dead-set on buying something new and are willing to drop a few hundred, allsaints does decent knockoff designs with good materials at reasonable prices, and they always go on sale.

dope, appreciate the info. I don't have any problems buying second hand, would almost prefer it honestly. I remember always seeing tons of leather jackets at pawn shops, wonder what my odds of finding a real perfecto are.

nothing in stock at the moment really but TRR is worth keeping an eye on, they just had a $100 off 250+ promo

grailed might be worth a look as well, though listings there tend to be pretty inflated because the platform fees have skyrocketed
