oh shit man, this game has altered my life, i am getting no fucking work done at all. i am behind on all my deadlines, one of which is this weekend. now i am at sixty hours. i am at one of those moments where i feel like i have explored everything in the areas i am comfortable in, but i can't beat about five bosses/dragons i know the locations of, so i am focusing on the weakest one but i just FUCKING WISH THERE WAS A FUCKING SITE OF GRACE OUT THE FRONT OF THE MIST INSTEAD OF MAKING ME RUN THROUGH THIS DUMB 30 SECOND OBSTACLE COURSE BEFORE I GO AND DIE ok i am done

nito and seath runs are some of my least favorite in the series

blue smelter demon in ds2 dlc might be the worst in the entire series (also horse fuck valley)

i really like elden ring and have played for 90 hours now but i still think the first dark souls is better

with that said if was told that only one of the two could exist simultaneously, i would choose elden ring. i think if i played elden ring for the first time before playing dark souls i would be blown away and not notice the minor gripes i have

yeah, after having replayed DeS, as much as i love it i think at this point i've come around to DS1 being my favorite overall. elden ring has its flaws, but for the most part i think they did a wonderful job with transplanting the souls experience into an open world format.

for what it's worth, the overworld dragons can all mostly be skipped without consequence unless you're gunning for a specific dragon spell

oh jesus fuck i forgot about seath, yeah that run is fucking horrendous. i've never died to nito so that one's never been a pain point for me, but i guess having to re-run that wouldn't be very fun. i will take your word on smelter but it's been so long since i've played DS2 i have zero recollection of that :redneck:

DS1 was very good about forcing you to learn bosses because so many of those runs were just awful. if you were new-ish to the series even the taurus demon route was pure hell

in truth though, a lot of the difficulty in those is self-imposed because you assume you actually need to battle your way through, or insist upon doing so out of some sense of honor. watching speedrun videos is instructive, in most cases even if you're not abusing glitches, you can actually just hold the run button and straight up ignore most of the fodder :redneck:

i watched enough ds1 speedruns that i feel like i skip half of ds1 now. if you start with the master key you pretty much have a straight shot to the gargoyles, spider bitch, and the shortcut back to firelink, ez mode. i've never been able to pull off the archives skip though, that's hard as shit

the foresight is strong with you

i hope you have a truly busted offensive kit because even the overworld trash is about to get tanky as fuck. bloodhound fang carried me through leyndell but it became truly pitiful after that, i had to cave and respec for moonveil

i do not know what bloodhound fang or moonveil are, but i accept your wisdoms and will keep them in mind. mayhaps you refer to items i picked up and filed away without noticing, like 90% of the items i pick up in this game :grimsanta:

currently in the snowy mountaintop of the giants

my most feared enemies are tree spirits, there are two i still can't beat, in the dunes cave and in the lake rot castle place, i mean, i can beat them based on my level, i just suck at fighting them
