It is perfectly acceptable to refer to the United States as America. The landmass labeled "America" in the picture is generally referred to by most people I know as "the Americas". "America" can mean either North America, South America, or the United States.

But what do I know, I'm not American

So, North Holland and South Holland are but two parts of many in The Netherlands, ja? I do not recall this being taught in geography class.

Are those independent nations or provinces/whatever of one singular nation?
