Without a more in depth explanation of what they've learnt, that video is just a load of ugly people looking at something I could have done in Paint

eh heh heh
Higgs-Boson... yeah, we can't find it because it's so abhorrent to the universe that it travels back in time and sabotages the LHC to prevent us from creating it.

Re: First proton collisions at the Large Hard-on Collider
It's the first time the LHC has been operating at full or near full power, around 1 trillion eV, finally making it the most powerful working accelerator/atom smasher.
This was just one series of collisions, and now they've got to sort through terabytes of image data to see what flew apart in the collisions. I think it'll be a while before any theory or anything is born out of this, but at least the damn thing works like it should.
It was on the BBC front page yesterday.

Re: First proton collisions at the Large Hard-on Collider
this is fascinating. i think i watched a documentary where this device was mentioned. supposedly it has quantum research purposes, correct? like, scientists think they can create a black hole, or exceed the speed of light, or some other crazy shit? awesome. i guess this is a pretty important moment in science.
go evolution.
