looking at the related vids on there, it seems after Woody died they're been right into the gloryhole era & grunge covers.
There's Pearl Jam, AIC and more....
These tracks with Warren singing contain lots of win... what a voice!

It makes sense though, given the political leanings of the songs/bands he's picking from. I would imagine he feels a kind of kinship with a lot of the grunge mentality. Plus it's not like he's playing the crap grunge; having looked at the related vids, he's gone with most of the most musical songs from that era.

Quadruple fucking
Not many people can jump in and play David Gilmore solos and not sound fucktarded.

They do kind of tend to fly in under a lot of people's radar.

Re: I love me some (original line-up) Gov't Mule
they do.
I've been into them since high-school (1995).
My first band's guitarist was a big Allman Bros fan, and when the Allman's recruited Warren & Woody into the band, he found out about Gov't Mule.
He showed me, knowing i'd dig it because it's quite 'heavy' blues-rock.
I pretty much fell in love with them.
They got 'bigger' when their bassist Woody died, and suddenly all these big bass names jumped on the "i'm a fan" wagon and did this big-arse album.
Personally anything after Woody's death is a bit meh, except for these recent grunge things.
I'll post their albums in the FS section shortly for you Tom.
and here's some reading for you Tom

and & I've found boots of the grunge & Floyd tribute shows... oh yeah... i'll up 'em once they finish d/ling (slsk, so will be slow....)

they became jammy i guess.
started out just doing their rad shit - longer versions, and got big on that circuit. then i guess those bands on those bills started asking them to join tours etc...
i'm not into jambands much, but I allow these guys in my collection.
