I'm glad I bought my setup in 2018. I want no part of this madness with the GPU prices.

intel i5-12400
asrock h670 riptide
evga xc3 ultra RTX 3070
16gb corsair ddr4-3600. will probably double that in a couple months

wd blue 4TB for bulk storage
corsair RM750 PSU
corsair 5000D case

Still rocking my ryzen 5 2600/1660 ti setup. It runs Elden Ring properly and I haven’t really been playing a lot of modern AAA titles. Plus it runs flawlessly for the design work that I do so I’ll probably stick with this for a few more years.

only place i'm really lacking is monitors, i'm still gonna be rocking my 2015 benq and a cheapo 4K TV for my secondary. i'll get a nice variable refresh high res panel in a couple months but i'll be slumming it with these for a bit i think

my main is a korean 4k 43" monitor and i'm never going back, i could have much higher fps with a smaller res but it's awesome to have such a big monitor. ....a backlight burnt out a few months ago and now i have a big dark spot in the bottom left but i've learned to live with it :homework:

final build came out pretty clean, i attribute this entirely to the fact that the case kinda forces you to use its cable management features. i have never willingly managed cables and if it were up to me it would be a total rats nest :hate:

i already fixed the ram placement after the initial benchmark clocked in on the first percentile :redneck:

the fucking crypobros forever ruined custom pc builds for me. shit got way too expensive, difficult to get good components. luckily that seems to be biting a lot of them in the ass these days.

crypto is collapsing, GPU prices are back to MSRP and you can find discounts on high end cards now. you could probably build a capable 3060 based machine for under a grand now

feeling a bit of buyer's remorse on the 3070 now, but i paid retail and this'll last me a good 5-6 years for sure so it's all good

also i never updated but i got a new primary monitor, for some stupid reason win10 on this machine would not recognize or output to my benq no matter what. snagged a dell 27" 1440p gsync dealie for like 3 hundo, i think 165hz refresh rate or something like that. it's smooth as hell

i don't know any of the specifications of my monitor, i just know it is extra wide. extra extra wide, good for two word documents or windows side by side, which is how i do most of my work
