Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
just curious, are you playing it with translated dialogue? if there's a dutch dub do they preserve the cowboy accents, haha
actually i have no idea if this game has voice overs for other languages but the thought of it was funny

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
i am currently playing this game, maybe 40 hours in, and all i've done is hunting and robbing, very few quests complete
it's hella fun!
i like setting up ambush spots, robbing innocent fishermen, then selling their loot to upgrade my bandit camp. it is good video games.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
yeah i gotta say i didn't finish this, it got boring, the problem is that the main story and missions suck and feel really arduous so once you do everything else in the game it's kind of like torture

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
yeah i didn't wind up going terribly far in it because it suffers from the fact that it is a rockstar gamem so the basic mechanics of moving around and shooting stuff are, by design, jank as fuck. so it's just a question of how long the collectathon crime stuff remains fun as you struggle against the core system. and for me, that is not terribly long

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
the combat is challenging enough once you turn off auto aim and all those assist things, some of the missions are difficult from a shooter perspective. what i hated was the constant cutscenes and constant hand-holding. the prompts were so bad. so imagine the mission is, "find a horse!". OK cool, need a horse. so you'd think in a normal game you'd get to think a little. explore the town. maybe get a horse in 1 of 3 ways. not in this game. literally this shit would appear on your screen: "cross the street" - "enter the saloon" - "talk to bob to give you the horse".
OK! what an awesome MISSION!
i had the jankiest outcomes in one quest because my superior stealth path into an office just wasn't what i was supposed to be allowed to do and so the game would bug out. but it was so obvious a path that it just didn't make sense the game would put up a bug wall so i wasted so much time working it out. there's no "look at the scenario and decide on a course of action". it's only: "steal the documents" - "get out of the wagon" - "enter the building" - "avoid the guards" - "go up the stairs" ---like that shit is written on your screen every 10 seconds as you complete the steps
at least you could turn off the compass and minimap, i think that's what gave me an extra 10 hours or so of enjoyment, exploring the world. i liked it when i stumbled across side quests that had the smallest element of mystery or thought to them, otherwise you were just "playing" a movie. but a movie with shitty characters that you really didn't care about with no room for influence. like many games it had a lot of potential but was just so frustrating after a while
