Requiem Podcast: Morbid Angel

This podcast is very good. The guys who do it seem fairly knowlegeable and manage to strike an excellent balance between music and talking.



Their latest episode covers Tucker-era Morbid Angel and they have another from a while back which deals with albums A - D.

I highly recommend you check these out (although I haven't listened tothe Tucker one yet) and maybe listen to a few of the other episodes as well.

I listened to the Tucker one. Very good and on the mark with a lot of their comments. I'll probably listen to the David Vincent one later

I've listened to about half the Tucker so far and agreed with most of what I heard. However, there seemed to be a lot of bashing of Heretic which I didn't agree with at all.

When they actually got to Heretic they said it's a good record but the predictable production complaint emerged which they said gives it that compressed sound and makes it quite boring. They also said Trey's wacky ideas on this record are probably the early warning signs for Illud.



I love Heretic too but I can see what these complaints are all about, even though personally I think the production gives it a somewhat outer-dimensional feeling, which is awesome.

I'm listening now to the Vincent era Covenant recording part and thusfar I think it's kinda disappointing: no new facts just predictable nostalgic sentiments without arguments and opinions that are lifted from interviews/ reviews or are just plain wrong. Comparing Trey to Mike Amott and Richard to Bill Steer is ridiculous! David Vincent during Covenant and Karl Willets were/are NOT gutteral vocalists and there's nothing really wrong with the production of Blessed are the sick for example, not now and not then

I found that episode interesting for someone elses take on those albums. Thinking about it though it's possibly aimed more at people trying to get into Morbid Angel, rather than the sort of fans present on this board.

Yeah agreed. You can't really expect any or much new facts. But I think even for fans a show like this is still good to listen to. It might have been better if they actually didn't play so many tracks . I know that sounds stupid, but it felt like it might as well be me just putting an album in and playing my favourite songs from it. But I guess that's what a fan would feel. It's good for newcomers anyhow.

i listened to both of them and they were pretty cool especially for someone who hasnt heard them before, but some of the stuff they say is just everyday stuff and they get some stuff wrong. but nonetheless cool podcast
