Re: H ist most underrated
i thought it was a great move to return to something more raw after the somewhat overproduced gatewaysNick wrote:It gets a lot of shit for the production on it but I really like it

Gateways had a digital drumkit, Heretic just has a lot of triggers going on, especially on the toms. Best drumsound was on Covenant and Formulas IMO.

heretic almost sounded like it was recorded by trey at home with an interface and some digital drums which honestly i kind of dig that vibe

Do you have the special double CD version? I do. The bonus tracks are the instrumental demo versions and there is not much difference between their sound and the actual album tracks.zim wrote:for sureiamgoat wrote:Gateways had a digital drumkit, Heretic just has a lot of triggers going on, especially on the toms. h isn't underrated, it's just under-heard
partly because they didn't tour for it very much thanks to ongoing trey fuckery
and what seemed to be a general lack of shit-giving

I saw them in 99, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004 during those periods.
The 99 show with Emperor opening for them was so fucking incredible. Emperor and Morbid Angel after another.

Re: H ist most underrated
yep.
MA
Skrape
Static-X
Slayer
Pantera
In that order. The cousin and I went mainly for pantera and static-x. I knew of MA at the time but never checked them out before that day. Same with skrape. Was a casual slayer fan at that point. That shit changed the game for me. We had seats for the show but as soon as MA started the cousin and I both turned to one another with our mouths open like “dude what the fuck is this?!.” We immediately went to the floor and got as close to the stage as possible for the rest of the night. Still to this day, tons of concerts later, still my number 1 and will forever be so.

I wish there was video footage of the show
I think there’s some of the Minneapolis stop but not the Fargo stop.
