How ironic Trey, the new Metallica! :shakefist:

Seriously though this has been like watching potentially the greatest movie of all time..It goes for 10 hours, has insane acting, insane script and insane action and suspense scenes..8 hours in and it gets incredibly boring..9 hours in and there is a hint of the hero about to kick some arse again..half hour left and the hero comes out of the closet then the credits role. The audience leaves the theatre like "wtf was that shit?"

There's too much to say about these latest announcements but to be honest,I had a feeling they were fucked after Vincent rejoined. Will still give it a listen but man I dislike techno ect. It would be nice if Trey did something like that one Satch technoish/rock record exept a really evil sounding version.Oh well, incredibly disapointed at the moment.

this is really a mix of    and :tear: :oldryan: :eyes:

I remember that Guitar Mag interview, which was done in like early era of the gloryhole or so, around the time when Black album was out, where Trey was like 'Metallica should quit, they should change name, it's not Metallica anymore'. And what is funny, is that they are in exactly the same boat right now, except that IMO this new MA album is gonna be shit comparing to Black album.

And you know what would be cool thing to know? :redneck: What was Rutan's feeling while tracking this new MA album, what was going through his head while he was tracking this abomination (especially those David's vocal lines)

Rutan ONLY did 6 tracks of drum recording, nothing else.

I think the guitars were recorded at Punchy's studio, not sure about the vocals.

All those press releases saying that the entire album was recorded at Mana Recording are wrong.

I think the songs with actual drums and guitar will sound good. It's the stuff that comes after that is crawling up my spine.

I am still trying to keep an open mind about all of this.

If the album turns out to be a lemon it will make a nice vessel for a burning ritual as all my MA vinyl, 7"es and special ed. will probably fit into it.

Yes, either way, I am buying this , as it is freaking unique and cool looking and as I posted earlier, we can always use it to summon forth little evil imps.

Of course, i also like your burning ritual idea, but definitely let's not go there yet. :ra:

excuse me?

the last instrumental tracks on Formulas are brilliant! I agree, Trooper is rather simple but very effective. In NO WAY do those tracks touch the genre of techno, dutch hardcore or gabba in any way!

Also, gabba ("gabber") is mostly represented by and listened to here in Holland by people with a lower IQ than avarage, it's fact. Mostly skinheads, sometimes neo-nazis, and overal asocial scum. I find it disgusting and I get literally SICK by the thought of Morbid Angel, a DEATH METAL band, being connected to that kind of utter crap. :frown: :frown: :frown: :puke:

So if there's going to be techno or industrial sounds, I certainly hope it is not in the style of aforementioned genre. There's plenty of good industrial and electronic music around, so I hope they got their inspiration from something good and less mundane.

yes those last songs in formulas are great, i meant there will be only 2-3 techno song which would have no relation with other tracks, just like formulas, i didnt meant "same type" there.

And i think they will not make them completely techno .. just some elements.

what ever's the case, rest of the songs will be good enough like nevermore.

after the bridge Nevermore really gets boring - it's just another repeat of the intro, no harmonies, no different drum beats, no different vocals...

maybe they did something with it in the studio.

but my point is the new album is not something way different, its still the real morbid angel sound.

someone said here about trey's statement about metallica's black album and he is doing the same now.

that is wrong :phbbt: MA has not left the sound

Well he says:
Even if Dave says he was influenced by “Dutch hardcore techno, you know gabba” for this one and that in the end, “it’s just extreme music
So lets see what he picked up and how he interpeteded it. And that is for that one song. I really do not think it is gonna sound like the Asto-X stuff.

And personally i think there are some vocal lines in Nevermore which are really good (IMHO). The bridge going into the "nevermore" part is really cool. And i think David has always been pretty good at vocal arrangements. To be clear; i am talking about the vocal lines not the lyrics. In the past though david wrote some gems of lyrics... The B and C stuff was cool.

I feel it is a little short sighted to pinpoint the new course soley on david. Trey and Pete worked on the new material also. And i'm sure all lyrics were known to Sailor Meanie before recording.

BTW, I have not taken the effort do decipher the lyrics to nevermore.. hase anyone done that?

Treys comments on Metallica were that a Heavy band should not put a ballad out on the radio. And that they were too different/mellowed out from the startingpoint of the band. And that this should not have been done under the Metallica name.(this is in a nutshell)

Now HE is adding hardcore Gabber in the mix. So basicly he IS doing the same. Only he is adding different influences. I can understand people's reaction to it.

The new album has not been released and certainly the technotrack have not been heard, so sayng they have left their sound or not is somewhat premature... So far nobody knows shit.

I thought about trying to get the lyrics to Nevermore but I kept thinking I was deciphering a Domination track. Some lines even sounded identical to me :redneck:

I'm not scared for the music; I'm really not. I think it will be weird but cool. It's the lyrics and vocals... the lyrics and vocals are going to be another Domination... but worse!!!!!! from the examples given in the preview.

"stroke me, for i wish to orgasm"... I do hope the guitar tone is better than Heretic. I did not like it as much. Leads sounded good but rhythms were all blech kkhhhkhkhhhhh
