How do you feel about bands continuing after a singers death?

I think for a young band like power trip they should absolutely carry on. A well established older band it can be tricky, but if alice in chains can do it, i think most bands can

However i don't see how anybody could replace trevor, his voice and lyrics were just too big of a part of the band :/

Depends on the band, how long they have been around, when they do the comeback, etc.

Power Trip is indeed young enough and should continue on imo. Whether it’s under the same name or not, ehhh.

No one can replace Trevor. BDM should hang it up. No disrespect to Riley as he was an awesome frontman but I feel like they could find a new frontman and be just as good if not better due to their age.

To answer the question, it just depends on the band and circumstances.

I think it really depends. there have been plenty of bands that have done so - especially when other members of the band may have been the main driving force behind writing. it definitely shouldn't be rushed though - gotta mourn and show some respect you know.

some people absolutely cannot be replaced, really depends on the band. the vocalist is probably always the most difficult since they tend to be the face of the band. i wonder how cannibal corpse fans felt when george took over.

I remember an interview with corpse grinder saying how when he first took over the fans gave him a lot of shit at shows, especially before he recorded an album with them.

But in retrospect I’m sure a lot of people are glad Barnes isn’t in cannibal corpse anywhere…..

As for slayer - if it had happened earlier in their career I’m sure people would have gotten over it but once they got past that 20-25 year mark? Yeah no.

It depends on the band, i guess. With a band like Metallica, I can’t imagine them going on if Hetfield died.

To this day, I admit I am still a wee bit on the fence about AIC continuing without Layne.

I guess this is not much of an issue with, say…fruital death metal bands or the like where vocals aren’t really the main interest in the music.

You and jorsh are the first two fans I’ve heard feel this way. AIC was one of the first bands i got heavily into and still a mainstay ib my rotation. To me Layne was such a part of them I just couldn’t listen without him. I also got really into the Gathering who I have enjoyed their various changes but thats kibd of how they’ve always been. Singer shifts can work there are just a lot of variables.

i think if aic had only layne on vocals it might be a different story, jerry's voice is also iconic for the band so half of it is still there.
