any recommendations for a classical / acoustic guitar around the $1000 range?

body is more or less done, i've been buying the tools needed for a neck build and they are expensive so i've been spreading it out over the last few checks

I am tempted to grab the Kremona Sofia since there is a 15% off coupon right now. there aren't a ton of videos of that guitar but the ones I heard I really liked

but also it won't ship for about a month which is off-putting

Perhaps you can find another source? It might not offer the discount, but you might not have to wait so long. One of my former students had one--sound and build quality were excellent.

phew, just bought the Kremona Sofia (open box) finally going to have a classical style guitar. thanks for the recommendation shredlord

also, i am not really knowledgeable in the area of classical guitar at all.. can you recommend some strings and maybe a book or two (or whatever) on some music?

As for books, do you want to teach yourself classical technique? This is the gold standard https://www.amazon.com/Solo-Guitar-Play ... 189&sr=1-1 It starts with the basics and very simple (and boring!) exercises, then the pieces get gradually more interesting and challenging. Be patient--it's sort of like learning how to crawl! I was stunned at how hard it was compared to electric guitar, but I really loved it. I highly recommend getting a good teacher--you'll make far better progress.

yeah classical is a very different animal to electric. i took a couple semesters of lessons when i was finishing up college and made good progress, but i completely fell off after graduating and not having regular lessons anymore. finally gave up and stopped maintaining my nails a few months ago even though i haven't tried to play seriously in years

i love this guitar, it's beautiful and sounds really nice. it came with an awesome hardshell came as well.

i initially rejected the idea of a classical guitar teacher but after finally getting my hands on one, i completely understand. even after playing crazy technical death metal, this thing is a challenge all its own. i will try to find one next year hopefully.

is it normal for classical guitars to have a high action? it seems really high and i don't actually know if that's normal or not (pictured below). another thing, is it normal for the strings to have this kind of rolling(?) feeling under my fingers, i suppose that's something you get used to?

in my experience the answers are yes and yes

That's a good looking guitar. The action might be a tiny bit high, but yes, the action is normally much higher than on an electric guitar. For some reason, classical guitars are more prone to buzzing than other guitars. Yes, you'll get used to that rolling sensation. Getting a teacher is a wise idea. Playing Necrophagist is easy compared to even a fairly easy classical piece!

I opened up the case the other day to find a string broken? Seems kind of odd for it to break inside the case without having been moved around. Ever experienced anything like that?

If its old, then yes I have experienced it. Tension of the wood and neck changing from temperature and humidity together with tension of string and its age.

Once or twice. Both were carbon treble strings rather than nylon. I don'r recall having a nylon string break on its own.
