Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
Here's my menagerie at present...would love to find an Orange Peel to flesh out the Rocktron collection, also a Punkifier for the DODs. BTW the rack is a shoe rack I got off Amazon for this very purpose, it's just perfect for pedals

Very cool. I've lately found myself wishing I'd done electronics in school, 'cos I could have made my own pedals, synths, noise generators etc etc

Man, I had almost zero clue and absolutely zero experience in soldering electronics or anything. I didn't study for this shit either.Svartmetall wrote: ↑17 Apr 2021, 00:48Very cool. But I just figured if someone else can learn this, so can I. And just started studying this stuff with a lot of helpful material from GuitarPCB forum and the Musikding DIY kits.
Jump into it and learn! It's a lot of fun.

I don't have a collection as such, but OD/Distortion's are starting to build up.
Maxon OD808
BOSS SD1
BOSS MT2
Pepers Dirty Tree
Balaguer Fission Drive
Tom's RAT
I guess I need to try a HM2 style next

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
i jettisoned most of my pedals when i was broke like 10 years ago. only ones i think i still have left are my ibanez FL301DX and of course my trusty metalzone (that hasn't been used in probably 15+ years)

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
The Behringer HM300 Heavy Metal (far left, 4th shelf up in that picture) is basically a direct copy of an HM2, and about 1/10th of what you'd pay for an original. Case is plastic so I'm not sure how gig-friendly it would be, but the sound is great fun - it does a really great facsimile of the sound on Entombed's 'To Ride, Shoot Straight And Speak The Truth'. Likewise the Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz (the orange one) does a perfect version of Electric Wizard's 'Dopethrone' tone, being as it is a copy of the Boss FZ-2; there is no way you can't have fun with an SF300.

Not a pedal, but my latest addition; Legendary Tones Hot Mod V2
Very cool little bit of kit for Marshall amps, attaches to V2 tube and gives you an extra gain stage with a bass boost/cut and gain switch.
Got this in my JCM900 MK3, seems to work with a bunch of amps that share the 800 type DNA.

My next pedal build will be a Friedman BE-OD clone.
Chasing that Marshall Plexi / JCM 800 tone.

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
I once played through an ehx metal muff with a boss ns2 through a cheap solid state combo. With a cheapo beater les paul copy, it sounded great for jamming some stone temple pilots tunes and the usual enter sandman back in it the college years.
When i got my line 6 POD xt live, everything changed and i’ve stuck with amp modelers ever since

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
Get a parametric EQ, you can be a lot more tone-specific than with a graphic. I sometimes like to use a Behringer rackmount 5-band para EQ as a pre-EQ & boost before going into an amp or pre-amp, and you can get some great tones that way.

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
Graphic EQs have sliders set at various frequencies to allow you to cut or boost those frequencies, whereas parametrics allow you to select specific frequencies of your choice and then how wide a range around that frequency you want to boost or cut the signal. Graphics are much simpler to use, but paras are vastly more capable and versatile.

awesome. Looking forward to this one
Is there any Fortin Zuul type noise gate pcb's? For what it's worth, apparently it's the gate from a Marshall KK

Re: Anyone else collect guitar pedals...?
Picked up BOSS SD1 40th Anniversary edition, pretty much just as a collector's item.
Also got a Kartakou Warmer, a modded TS808 type pedal, it comes with a bunch of swappable OP amp chips and has switches for bass boost and clipping diodes. Might try and get round to do a comparison video of the chips as I couldn't seem to find onen
