Re: Cheap guitars
Brand new guitars are more overpriced than ever and websites like Reverb are filled with guitars that are sometimes almost brand new for half the price so yeah at this point I don't see a valid reason of buying brand new guitars.

Re: Cheap guitars
i bought a 1995 ibanez rg570 on ebay for $400 a few years ago and it's my favorite guitar. solar guitars seem really high quality for a decent price though i've seen weird issues occur with them like fretboard cracking
there are so many guitars now. apparently the chinese counterfeits are getting really good too and those are only a few hundred dollars. that's a whole rabbit hole itself

Re: Cheap guitars
My stance on Ibanez is that the 2000s-early 2010 Indonesian-made standard series are great value guitars and are probably the best in their price bracket.
As far as les paul shapes go, I've been eyeing this for a while now. ESP/LTD EC-201. Set-neck, satin finish all over, 24.75 scale and 24 XJ frets and a cheapo placeholder pickup that can always be swapped out for something else.

Aye, I've been eyeballing a similar one, ltd ec-256 with a black satan finish and dual humbuckers

Re: Cheap guitars
i don't really know what counts as cheap anymore, $500 brand new for an MIM telecaster seemed like a pretty good deal and by current standards inexpensive enough. i may make some minor changes to it here and there down the line but i like it a lot even on stock specs
