Benedict Cumberbatch is cast as both the voice of Smaug aaaand The Necromancer, so I would reckon that bit will be more prominent in the movie. I'm also hearing there will be a bit of bridge-gapping toward LotR.

I ruined a perfectly good pair of pants when that first series came to Netflix. To have it end on a cliffhanger was just the ultimate tease.

Well yeah. This is very different. I got into Brett's Sherlock ages ago. Cumberbatch has blown me away though, so perfect for the part.

Yeah, this is a different sort of thing. It's a modernization (and not in the shit way that word is usually applied to things) of the characters. I think it more compliments the other Sherlocks than competes. Cumberbatch is perfect for this Sherlock Holmes, and I think Freeman's Watson is excellent.
