because of the fucking pandemic and closed four months ago no less, i was way late to discover

just a lil butcher shop and full service restaurant, a sliver of a place right off of st claude. it was the best food i had in new orleans and the dude who ran it is cool as hell, he answered all my dumb questions about the city and how it works and all manner of related things

this breaks my heart, i was hoping to go back there maybe late this year or next year. my wife has never been to new orleans and we talk about going on the regular

mate my life is a fucking mess. i have no idea

my building has been raided by the army, my girlfriend has nearly been arrested, teargassed, shot multiple times. the brewery is crippled. i just spent $4,200 on the family dog's ligament surgery. everything is fucked

the regime is raiding everything and anywhere there is the smallest amount of resistance. they released common prisoners from the jails to make room for political prisoners, i.e. people who resist the coup. they have detained over 2000 innocent people for resisting the military coup so far; all are disappeared, no info on their welfare, if they are not immediately tortured to death as many have been. they have headshot dozens of protesters. every day tear gas, stun grenades and violence against the people. during the night after their curfew the army and vice squad go around smashing cars, shooting into apartments and stealing from ATMs and shops. it has been a steady increase in chaos since feb 1 but the last 10 days have seen a huge escalation in deaths, arrests and desperate behaviour by the regime and its army dogs. two nights ago was the most harrowing night of my life as my girlfriend was so close to being taken it's not funny. by all rights she should have been, it was just luck. so it's dire times and i am braced for even worse.
