I wonder if Erik has talked Trey into a new amp rig? A lot of people have switched from Marshall to Engl--they are far tighter, crunchier, and ballsier than Marshall. I think several bands Erik has worked with use them.
Erik uses Engl himself. He used Engl on I, monarch.

I LOVE Engl and have great experiences with them.
But Marshall communicates very well with Trey's guitars and setup, maybe an Engl would shut that magic down.

I got the chance to check out Hans his Engl at Excess a few days ago. You were right, it's the only one i like. You did not like the fore/powerball that much did you? Or am I wrong?
Erik used a mixture of Marshalls and Engl on his reordings. Lately he also used a Laboga Mr Hector. On the last euro tour he used a DSL100. Not sure if he still uses his roccaforte bastard.
I really am looking forward to hearing the guitar tones.. If somebody understands what trey want it has got to be Erik.

more details: <!-- m -->http://blogs.myspace.com/manarecording#ixzz0us4fj3vA<!-- m -->
so that say's the recording/mixing-process with ma is done?
btw, nice forum here! hope to come back from time to time!
cool information about one of my faves
have a nice day everybody

Welcome!
That would be pretty quick and personally I actually feared recording would take longer than anticipated...if Erik Rutan is not a around-the-clock worker since MA prefers to record at night? Who would be mixing and mastering it btw?

Re: MA begins recording new album
Is there any possibility that they have actually not finished recording evertthing? when they announced that they had began recording, they said "Eric Rutan will be enginering the "current" sessions".
Eric's myspace says that Morbid Angel was recording drums, but it doesn´t say anything about the rest of the recording. would that possibly mean that they were only gonna record drums with him? when Nile recorded there, although they did record the whole album at Mana, Eric produced only the drums. is there a chance they wanted Eric to record only the drums and they're going to record the rest of the album somewere else and we know nothing about it?
What do you think?
I've been told (from a very reliable source) that the drums are done, and that Trey and David's parts are up.
I can only conclude that's it's wrapped up.
But then again, everything's possible, especially considering the 'instrumental' parts.

Re: MA begins recording new album
i think we have to wait in patience, till someone find some news in the net!
or we can read some news on the official websites, but i don't think so
perhaps is trey going to record all the guitars at his homestudio, like he did with the pre-record-xtrastuff-cd from heretic?!?!?!?!?!
did anyone here ask them directly or has any kind of contact?

I have contact with Erik, used to with Trey thru myspace.
But I'm not going to bombard Erik with questions, I doubt he will give any information away plus we're all just gonna have to wait and find out for ourselves.

thanks! those were with uni777 and Y. Xul on drums (Melechesh).
we did day of suffering, pain divine, nothing is not, maze of torment and where the slime live.
we can do MUCH MUCH better, but I think Nothing is Not was a good one. I remember the first time jamming with those guys, we started off with that song and we played it through to the end in one take, without ever having played together before... that was very cool.

Ooh, nice. I had a Powerball for a brief time--it sounded killer cranked through two Mesa Rectifier cabs. Aah, those were the days...

Ever heard those Screamer 50 tops? They're 50 Watt but sound absolutely amazing!
The new Fireballs are great, as well as the Powerballs. I played a bit with the new Fireball, a fellating lover of mine just bought one (200W version), and I gotta say that it sounds better than the old one. This one has a little more warmth to it and sounds a little less "hissy", I didn't like that in the previous model. Perhaps different tubes?
Also a classmate just started his own hand-made guitar and bass cabinets, called Doombringer. I heard his first model and they are of good quality.

No, I'm pretty much out of touch with the amp scene. If I had it to do over, though, I'd probably play through both a Bogner Uberschall (incredible bass and a low-mid growl that can't be beat) and a Powerball to fill in the mids and highs. That would be a rather expensive rig, though! But, as one amp/guitar company once said, "Life is too short for bad tone"!

Do you mean the videos that were uploaded on the old board were ya'll were playing and heavily headbanging at the same time?
I thought it was impressive...most impressive to coin a phrase
I even saved them on a disc somewhere..
Is there any news on the proceedings btw? I gues it's al wrapped up and probably also mixed & mastered by now? My guess is they're now busy compiling/ editing the dvd..

I have no idea. Maybe they recorded other instruments somewhere else? If they're already in the mixing stadium then they did everything faster than I ever saw a recording go... the mixing should take some time.

Re: MA begins recording new album
I think that one month to do the whole could be enough: if the sound takes are good, the mixing can be fast ! One week could be enough to mix the whole ! And I'm sure Erik and MA know their equipment well and can do excellent sound takes...but everything is so mysterious around this album that eveything is possible, and they could just have done the instrumental takes !
