yesterday i spent several hours sheet mulching a small portion of our backyard

i will continue to do it in regular sheet mulching sessions until the entire backyard is covered and weed free

sheet mulching is excellent exercise, particularly when you live on a hill

has anyone else done it, the sheet mulching

i suppose there could be but you would likely pass out pretty quick i drank about 32 ounces of water per hour doing this

it was a hot hot day in september

today when i do more of this it will be in the cooler morning hours

go to the liquor store and get cardboard boxes

remove any tape or other plastic packaging and lay the boxes flat on the ground

leave a six-inch overlap between boxes to ensure no sunlight gets through

do that until the desired area is completely covered

call an arborist who delivers wood chips for free and get a fuckton of chips delivered to your house

put them in the wheelbarrow with the pitchfork and dump them atop the cardboard

do that until the desired area is completely covered

all vegetation including weeds is suppressed and within several months decomposes back into the earth

provided you don't till the soil and churn up old seeds in the process, you now have nice healthy weed-free earth ready for gardening or a child's play area or whatever else you want to do there

What are you planning on doing with this freshly mulched land

the weeds are high and deadly in my backyard, they harbor bugs and tower over my child and dog

once mulched, the backyard will become a fully operative play area complete with dozens of mosquito-repelling herbs and shrubs grown in my garage

I’ve actually been thinking about doing this but with rocks instead of mulch. Make a little zen garden or some shit.
