why do people have their own instagrams really? is there any other reason other than attention? i'm not talking about a bands instagram, just a random person

sometimes it is fun to take pictures and then share those pictures with other people

thats what text messaging, mabb, and facebook are already for though, dingus humongus 

well i think it's more about the display also. i am not sure how it is that photos look different on different sites but i have posted the same image to facebook and flickr and i swear it looks shitty on facebook. which is why i hardly post pictures there. flickr is for pictures
 
i don't use instagram so i can't speak to that platform really

It's just another social networking app except I think Instagram has its own filters and shit to play around with.
 
Personally, I just stick to Facebook, mainly because all my work contacts are there and a lot of mein professional inquiries/conversations are conducted there as well. I do not see the logic in making a Twitter or an Instagram account because Facebook can do all the things that the two aforementioned apps can do and because it's all just one big social network (same people, same friends and contacts in all three social networking accounts...at least in my case). Therefore, if I feel the need to post something, why would I need more than one of them social apps if the same group of people are gonna see my post anyway, regardless of which social media app I use.
 
Also, I have filtered my own Facebook newsfeed according to my own preferences, meaning I have unfollowed a lot of contacts and I constantly use the 'I don't want to see this' option. So yeah, my newsfeed is free of nauseating selfies and everyday posts of people whose idea of a past time is telling the whole world how miserable their life is, hungry for that instant espresso-like boost of much needed self-esteem called a 'like'.

And yet most people don't even know there is an unfollow option. This usually leads to one user making a status post about criticizing another user's post and then the latter predictably fires back by posting a status of their own indirectly criticizing the former's post and saying stuff like it's my newsfeed it's my right to post what I want bla bla bla...and then you've got your day's worth of entertainment better than a lot of things on TV today.

I'm im favor of these social networking platforms, be it facebook, instagram or whatever. I also like viewing pictures from friends and relatives. What I do have a problem with is the selfie phenomenon. It's unbelieveable how addicted some people seem to have gotten to this.

I may convert to Instagram if this is the case. I've begun downloading all my FB data to disk to prepare for the impending deactivation (plus I need a few phone numbers)

I really don't use Facebook that much. I don't think I will need the other platforms either for any reason, other than maybe if I launch a business venture and need those for marketing.
