Controlling addictions

Over the years, there are two semi-addictions I've brought under control by regulating my schedule.

Caffeine

Before: I used to drink 2 cups a day on weekdays out of habit. I thought I needed that to function at work. That was 5 days a week, 2 cups a day = 10 cups of c.offee in a week.
Now: I've created a schedule where I brew c.offee only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I drink two cups on those days - as usual. Between those days, I allow myself to have only 1 cup of tea. So that's 6 cups of c.offee a week, with 2 cups of tea (which has less caffeine). So far it's worked and I've been adhering to this schedule. Maybe from here I will reduce consumption further to just one cup of c.offee on the designated day.

Alcohol

Before: I used to drink several days a week, and to the point of getting drunk.
Now: Since 6 years I've adhered to a schedule where I don't drink more than 2 beers a week, and only on a Friday or Saturday. A few years ago in fact it was going so well that I would even go 2-3 weeks without having any. But since the past year, I have been consuming a couple of beers a week on a Friday or Saturday. It's attuned me to the point where I just can't handle anymore than two at a time.

The one challenge left for me is food and dessert regulation. I haven't implemented a schedule for dessert consumption, I have it whenever I want, and that's causing me difficulty in losing weight. So I'm considering implementing a schedule here as well.

Those are great steps to change. Well done.

Maybe try eating within a certain time frame. Say, between 10:30 am and 6:30 pm. Before and after, only drink water, unsweetened tea or black cawfee. Assuming you don't work night shifts.
Keep at it for a month.

This really helps me in eating the right amount and also to eat healthier because I'm much more aware of what I eat and drink.

Won't be easy the first day, but see how it changes your eating habit and pattern.

It’s really just herb especially during the lockdown.

I still smoke but i only go for cigs whenever i’m out of herb or if i go out to bars and such. None of those things happened in 2020 and my herb supplier always comes through so yeah haven’t touched a cig in a long while.

Booze is a very occasional thing for me.

750ml french press cawfee every morning, which i could drop if i wanted because caffeine doesn't really do much to me, i just love good cawfee. found a top notch roaster here a few months ago

i was drinking too much for most of the pandemic, i cut that down to almost nothing back in march so i could lose weight

Yea I've used caffeine and alcohol tons. I took a lot of caffeine because I weightlifted and felt run down a lot. Kinda have to periodically ween myself off every now and again but I feel better with a little usage. A schedule is a good idea. for me it's more of a question of why and how I was using the substances.

Alcohol, I've definitely have had my phases, plus I work in a fancy shop so it's hard to say no. It's fun, but eventually it got tiring to not get good night's rest anymore

cawfee addiction - I previously said it would be two cups 3 days a week, but I feel confident enough to now make it one cup for 3 days a week. I brewed just one for myself, if I can get through the day fine, that's what I'll stick to forever.
