hello no, i never romanticised those cheap pieces of shit. i was always dreaming for the day i could get whatever song i wanted to play for my alarm, so when the phones came along it was ace.
btw my alarm song has been van halen - jump for like 4-5 years

I use both old school alarm cock and cell phone. I usually hit the wrong button on the alarm clock so it's nice to have the back up for those days I'm extra out of it.

I just use my phone, it's probably been 15+ years since I used an actual alarm clock.

you need more and starting earlier, and plenty are within 5 min of each other
i can work whatever hours i want, i just have to get my tasks done
Good old fashioned insomnia is the worst. Brother and dad have that, I work nights so mine is forced but I am switching back to days next month soooo that will be fun.
You go to a sleep doctor? See if you have sleep apnea? Meditation and cbd oil worked for my dad. Just be careful if they suggest ambien, my dad tried to sleep drive on it ::::::

I do not miss waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning. getting up at 6 still sucks but fuck what a difference a few hours makes.
only nice thing about waking up uber early was being done with work at like 12 or 1 in the afternoon.

never been to a sleep doctor but i probably should, i have this weird thing going on with my throat that i think is causing sleep apnea. my sleep schedule is in constant rotation, it's not that i can't sleep, the schedule is just in constant flux for no real reason than a lack of discipline.
also my cat wakes me up constantly

cats are assholes.
I have one cat that is chill as fuck - the other will run around at night howling, attacking the other cat, jumping on the bed. this gets the dog all worked up so then she is chasing the cats around. definitely been woken up by the cat jumping on the bed followed by the dog....

I hope that job pays well nick, shit. I can do that every so often (my record was 96 hours over a 2 week period when half my team was out with covid), but all the time? nah.

My dad consistently worked 100 hour weeks with no overtime. A lot if salary employees don’t get overtime. My boss doesn’t and she has to cover shifts.

It really does. Commission is based off of gross profit and I sling parts at a particular german luxury car dealer. This is my first full year here and going to be far and away the most money I've ever brought in by a wide margin.
The hours are wild as shit right now. 1 dude is out on medical (tore his bicep, who the fuck knows when he's coming back) and 1 hard-on bearer was out on vacation. The assistant manager got promoted so he's been splitting time between the 2 dealerships. 2 new guys learning the ropes and still have an open spot in the department. So basically from 12:30 to 6 it may as well have just been me and my manager the last 2 weeks. A few weeks from now the assistant manager will be gone and we'll see how that all goes.
I've already had the conversation about getting through all this shit and needing a bump in pay since I'm defaulting to filling the shoes of the assistant manager

Oh and I'm already at 86 hours for this pay period with 2 days to go
