I will say that while it does suck having to pay more, one can only hope that this will directly change people's behavior when it comes to driving and consumption. maybe even spur new innovation since there will be an interest in funding it.

Or just open up domestic drilling abd other pipelines in europe for cleaner oil and gas not from the middle east or russua. This while we continue to innovate and explore other options instead of pretending there is something that currently doesn’t exist.
I hope the Russian invasion is a wake up call to all of our leaders to become less dependent on other countries

I decided a while ago that my next car will be an electric or the very least a hybrid. I just hope car prices (which skyrocketed during the pandemic for multiple reasons) begin to normalize down the road.

I drove electric forklifts with 3000 lb batteries for over a decade in an unheated warehouse in the upper midwest. The drastic decline in battery life that occurs when it gets below freezing - and near uselessness below zero - was the first thing that came to mind when I began seeing all electric vehicles around these parts. Replacing those batteries is also not cheap, and frequent "quick" charges will also shorten their lifespan. I'm sure the technology will keep advancing, but for now bitter cold weather can do a number on expensive electronics exposed to the elements.
