well okay, it was actually last Tuesday. Construction crews hit a natural gas line and the entire area went into shelter in place followed shortly thereafter by an order to evacuate the area once it was deemed safe enough to go outside (but still get the hell out). the air smelled thick of gas and you could see it causing a ripple effect in the air high above where the pipeline was struck - I made a beeline for my car and took off in the opposite direction. took them about 3 hours to contain it before an all clear was given. anyone ever experience something like that before where you were told in no uncertain terms to evacuate?

i have had bomb threat evacuations, fire alarms and once anthrax delivered to our department, but no gas leak

We had a gas leak in our house once. Bge changed the meter and didn't put a washer on some random ass bolt. So a few years later it became and an issue that was easily solved.

Had a gas leak from a water heater in an old apartment years ago. Woke up sick from the smell, i reckon i was lucky to wake up get out of there and call the gas company

Gas leaks are scary luckily never had one here
