5 a year i could deal with.
I try to limit power use during peak times but we are only one household it takes everyone being mindful to not have huge blackouts like last night. It isn’t going to happen and neither will upgrades. Most of America is running on an archaic electric grid.

i don't think i've ever experienced a power outage that wasn't caused by a storm or something random that lasted more than an hour

yeah our outages are all storm-related where the physical infrastructure gets damaged.
california keeps letting PG&E go on murder sprees while never lifting a finger to put a single penny into upgrading the ancient power grid and nothing will change that. so it'll only ever keep getting worse, that's something to look forward to i guess!

The problem is the underbrush we aren’t allowed to clear it nor is pg&e. They keep building homes in high fire risk areas without taking precautions so it sets up tragedy.
We cant even trim our trees without hard to get permits.
The tree thing is my city Im not sure about elsewhere

Power outages are getting bad here now, generally 3 or 4 hours without power everytime. Its to the point where i see thunderstorms in the forecast i expect a power outage

Same. Something random being someone crashing their car into a utility pole - but other than that always weather related.

Lived through them all my life. There was a period between 2008 till 2014 that we had almost hourly outages, with a total of 12-14 hours per day without any electricity. Feels weird seeing this being mentioned as I thought it was exclusive to where I lived and some other smaller third world nations. But fucking USA is going through load-shedding as well now?!

None of this happens here. Extremely rare occurrance. But all power lines are underground here so a lot safer from the weather.
In Belgium they tend to have such issues more often.
