i will admit it was pretty nutty to watch it unfolding live. but with the benefit of some distance and hindsight, meh. i think it could've been a much more impactful event had it been someone else in office, but it doesn't seem like bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea or the people he surrounded himself with had any real clue how to actually exploit it. it was very clearly permitted to happen, i assume that was the FBI's own design but i'm open to alternative explanations on that front. so that aspect is kind of interesting, but it seems like very straightforward strategy of tension fare to me.

anyway as far as the whole spectacle they're putting on for tv, it's not for me. all the talk of a coup is overblown nonsense. in the first couple days of the hearings there was a big trending headline that there was no evidence bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea requested for the military to secure the capital, so that pretty definitively settles that question. no prosecutions are going to come out of it, the president is above the law. the people arranging the whole show have demonstrated themselves to be completely powerless in every arena, so none of his people or party will suffer any consequences either. it's just a headline generation machine that will get people who are already on team dem riled up.

whoever clinches the republican presidential primary wins in 2024, so IMO it's a question of whether the party leadership is still really in thrall to him or not. he gave the country's owners pretty much everything they wanted, but they might not want to deal with his erratic side again, especially on the foreign policy side. he was the one who pulled the plug on afghanistan after all, which was a grievous wound to a hell of a lot of interested parties. the whole "chaotic withdrawal" that ensued was engineered by either the pentagon or langley in retaliation - bag of diarrhea inside another, bigger bag of diarrhea was at least smart enough to know that was in the cards, hence the second-term timeline.

I would like to see him be ineligible to run for any office again as well as the architects of this bullshit and several key senators / congress persons held accountable to the fullest degree possible. the next time this happens (and let's not kid ourselves, it will) they will not hold back anything if there is little to no consequence this time around and jan 6 will be made to look like a practice run.
