Basically shit decisions and crumbling infrastructure. It started when they shutdown one nuclear plant and are now shutting down a second. It means we have to draw power from other states and do not have enough on our own.
Issue with water our dams are old and they won’t build new ones. Repairs take a decade like with the one near us they drained. It is a disaster.

i assume they shut down the nuclear plants due to the general nuclear fear and what not? i guess that area is prone to earthquakes?
did they shut them down with no plans to replace the lost energy?

No plans to replace and due to pressure from environmental groups just like most decisions here. The irony? Shutting them down releases massive amounts of carbon over the next few decades. Its virtue signaling without addressing the issues like many choices in this state and country.

healthcare systems of lots of countries are shit, but the healthcare system in usa seems particularly indefensible, and dangerous for anyone who isnt wealthy. why not move to a different country?

Moving to a different country is not something you 'just' do. Practically and emotionally it's a huge step.
Anyway, USA and EU western countries are all jumping for a "Zero carbon footprint" which is complete bullshit. The biggest companies who are actually destroying the environment are making huge amounts of profit, while the regular citizen is the victim of the Green Deal idiots.
How wonderful to decrease carbon emissions while millions of people no longer have access to electricity and gas.
With the technology of now, a new nuclear plant would be the best option and would also be much safer than the old nuclear plants we always worry about.
It's all a fucking scam. Wake up.

Near san jose
In farmland
I have considered trying to move to a lot of places. Out of the country is out if the question due to my brother and my career choice. Ultimately I will probably end up staying or in Colorado due to connections I have.

You are dead on with this. It is nothing but virtue signaling. A lot of choices made are actually worse for the environment.

I mean just the amount of times people have come on here drunk / high as all what and then trying to one up each other in the grossness or absurd (usually because of dusty I'm sure) - especially on the earlier incarnations of MABB..... yeah.

new england facing a very precarious situation with respect to electricity and heat this winter if we get prolonged cold snaps
it's been very up and down this fall but we seem to have settled into a colder-than-normal pattern for late november. doesn't bode well!
