I hike white shoes would be ill advised

i've had a pair of common projects in white leather for probably 3-4 years now and they've held up great so far. also got a pair of rick converse hitops in white for christmas last year. those are the only white ones i still wear with any regularity, obviously not during the winter once sand/salt/slush are everywhere or when its rainy/muddy out etc

i would never recommend white shoes as your only pair but they are fine to include in your wardrobe if you have a rotation
