There are some absolute knob-ends that show up at metal bars here, but there's some decent chaps too.

I remember going for a smoke and walking past a hard-on bearer in an Evile shirt. I told him i missed Evile when they were supposed to support Amon Amarth and Entombed (when their bassist died). He just gave me a 'cool story, bro now fuck off' look. I dont give a fuck, no one has the right to be that fucking condescending, i didnt need to talk to him i've got fucking friends.

There were nothing but nice folk at the last amon amarth. :santa:

I do not associate with mallcore wanklets, thank fuck theyre in the decline here.

Me and my wife are the youngest couple living in this part of town. My nextdoor neighbors are all between 50 years old and grave. There are some younger kids who live here with their parents but I don't really interact with any of them.

I know one of the kids, who is around 14 I guess, do wear Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth shirts when I see him but that is all. So if that is the stereotype of metal head in here then yes! :xx:

Prolly 99 % of my neighbors do listen this type of music.

But I really don't. When I'm at the office I might be wearing tie and listening Immortal from head phones and playing double bass fills with my feet.

Not really. I don't let my enjoyment of metal dictate what I should wear, how I should feel towards other music, or anything else really. Some days I want to wear a band t-shirt. Most days I don't. If I can talk to someone about the music I like, that's fine. If I can't, whatever. I don't really give it much thought these days. I do not run away from the label, but I don't care to run toward it either.

I was pretty impressed with the decent metal crowd at O reilly's, a new-ish bar in dublin. Nice folks with some decent (ie old school) taste in music.

I pretty much avoid band shirts now or even talking about music, doesn't really do me any favors in interacting with fellow students much less profs. Being a metalhead of any variety here is pretty much synonymous with being a lazy potsmoking do-nothing that lives with their parents (deservedly, as far as metalheads in my region go).

you can imagine here in London everyone is personal friends with Lee Dorrian/Shane Embury/Ozzy Osbournes gardener and the ones that aren't are Journalists who are personal best friends with Lee Dorrian/Shane Embury/Ozzy Osbournes petsitter

It's a horrendously cliquey/I'm cooler than you/emperors new clothes type vibe so subsequently I tend to stay at home unless it's absolutely unavoidable.

Having said that there are the odd few, really a few tho, awesome supportive characters that are just into the music and love to drink and bang their fists.

Metalheads are immature 17 year-olds who have nothing better to do but to throw up those stupid devil horns in their pictures and videos. I hate slayer fans, I hate Nile fans, I hate Pantera fans. I hate Devourment fans if they flaunt themselves as such. I hate people who like to show and prove to others that they are metal. Why can't people act normally? I hate people so much. I hate you too.

i started hanging out with the metalhead crowd 10 years ago, eventually drifted away from that scene. i run into those folk around town now and then, and pretty much all of them are doing the exact same shit as 10 years ago. still dressing in the metal uniform, no goals outside of getting drunk on some certain night or another, etc..

only real difference is they've built an insular metal scene here, which by my estimation follows the same basic pattern of any local music scene: a core of musicians and their friends who all agree to go to each others' shows, all the while producing nothing of actual value.

All of this. Metalheads were fun when I was in my early 20s. Now, I just cannot be bothered. They're fucking idiot conformists and just a couple small notches up from a Juggalo, as far as I'm concerned. Punks are the same. One of my friends up here is into metal, but he's nothing like the stereotype. He's awesome. :xx: Met a few others who are a little into it and they're nice people too, totally normal looking people with normal personalities, behaviors, etc etc.

As for back home in NJ, well...:redneck:

Round these parts, the term 'metalhead' would usually denote skinny guys with black shirts and colorful chuck taylor shoes that usually jam to the likes of All That Remains, Darkest Hour and the like. :oldryan:

most metalheads here are "roadburners" or "neurotic deathfest"-folks.

and most of them are about my age and over.

of course we also have the kiddie scene with slipknot, him, and all those crappy emo fuckers.

I used to live near a town here in England called Maidstone. There's plenty of goths, emo, metalheads there. I don't look or dress like a metalhead, but I do look rather miserable all the time so if that counts :greenie:

I once saw a hard-on bearer with a Nile shirt. I didn't say anything but he saw me looking at his shirt with a knowing look of "fellow brethren". I think he got it :xx:

Every now and then some hard-on bearer at the checkout line or on the street will ask about my Morbid Angel hat. Then, they will freak out, "zomg I never knew there were other metalheads..." really? "...that's so awesome dude fuckin' metal :bang: " and I will politely smile and walk away. Sure, you were friendly, but you called me a metalhead. Fuck you. :fuckoff:
