and it's really nothing new.

I found some stuff in my collection from early gloryhole era - Bill Laswell (one of my fav bassists/producers) did an album of dub mixed with hard drum n bass with big wobbly distorted bass synths.

that was "dub n bass" which is nice! much nicer than this dubstep craze.

It occurs that this is no different than the hard-on bearer that synchronized his lights to Wizards in Winter by TSO.

dubstep is cool when you're rolling and in the club and that's about it
