What be this? Pre-Alien 1 stuff, I do find this interesting. When is the premiere?

That earlier script WAS for the originally planned Alien prequel, but Lindelof and Scott have come up with something more stand-alone. While there are still strong links to the original script, this is no longer a direct prequel, though it does take place in the same fictional universe, and in Scott’s metaphorical words, the film contains ‘Alien DNA’. Scott has also said that the final few minutes of the film link more directly to Alien

Great film Ridley nailed it, most of the parts were almost similar to alien. He left many things unanswered which is great

And if there was ever an argument for 3D movies, this is the one. There's a scene with a huge room filled with a holographic star chart that looks like it's coming out of your eyes.

I saw it tonight. It was not as good as I had hoped nor as bad as I feared. OK, Joseph Conrad didn't write the script, and there are some plot holes, but it was still enjoyable. Plus, it certainly had its share of mind-blowing effects and a few suitably icky moments. Stick around for the credits: I don't think I've ever seen so many people credited before--it had an enormous crew!

yeah the effects were pretty good. Mediocre it was on the whole.

Well obviously the studio with $100 million equipment and special effects professionals and etc. will make the better looking movie compared to some other filmmakers working with under $2 million. Still, Prometheus seemed like some dudes collaboratively asked "What's Ridley Scott doing these days? Let's get his input k" and paid him just to show up. Looks like another heavily CGI'd sci-fi film to me, with very few minor connections to the original movies. Looks cool and all. As a stand-alone film, it's ok but an extension of the Alien badassery? Nope.

i do not give one atom of rat's ass that it doesn't much tie in with Alien, because that was not part of my criteria for seeing it in the first place

I'm sure the budget of The Last Exorcism is why the ending was so stupid.
