the dumbest fucking thing this country ever did was dismantling all the street car systems throughout the country in favor of the automobile in the 1940's / 1950's. so many of today's urban clusterfucks would have been greatly avoided or reduced if cities had been designed around them instead of the automobile.

even if you go full automobile there are ways to design cities so traffic is less of a problem
