i was just thinking about this the other day, i remember in 1998 when i got my first hotmail account and animated gif banner ads were as hi-tech as it could get the internet was a lot slower but a hell of a lot nicer on the eyes. even the warez/porn sites were tame. then flash came, then web 2.0. now it's all fucked.
