I have my own dosimeter at work :redneck:

One time, I forgot to put my shielded gloves on and included my thumb in a dog's radiograph. :alien:

Image of the week in a med journal a few weeks ago was an xray of a beer bottle that had snuggled its way into a colon.

Do you know about a disease in dogs involving copper accumulation ? I heard it mentioned once, and it sounds similar to a cool disease in humans.

I think it is found in a type of terrier, but maybe others too.

Are you talking about Hepatotoxicosis from CT and relating it to Wilson's Disease?

Wilson's Disease is mentioned on House more than Scrubs, but I'm talking from work knowledge.

I don't know what "Hepatotoxicosis from CT" is.

But yes, I was talking about Wiilson's disease. Apparently bedlington terriers also can get an autosomal recessive disease which causes copper accumulation. Apparently the mutated protein that causes it in them isn't an issue in humans though.

Wilson's is a personal interest of mine.

And it is also, as far as I know, the only disease that has been diagnosed twice on House!

I think studying the crossovers, similarities and differences in conditions between humans and non-human mammals is interesting.

Do pets of smokers have increased incidence of lung cancer and heart disease etc?

Re: :alien:

by Abzu
It's hard to tell, as I haven't surveyed owner smoking habits. Sometimes, though, it seems like every dog and cat has fucking cancer of some sort. It's insane.
