The fond memories of childhood.
*********************************************************
I started listening to Morbid Angel around the time Blessed Are the Sick came out. I was hooked. Listened to Altars and was reeled in. Covenant came out and I thought – What the F^ck happened? But I am a firm believer in the Rule of Twice Experiences. Simply stated if the first time something sucks give it another try as maybe it was just a bad experience but if it still sucks then purge it from mind body and soul and walk the hell away. Thankfully the rule worked as it was just a bad experience.
Went to my first show in Atlanta at The Masquerade on the Covenant tour with Paradise Lost and Kreator. BLOWN THE HELL AWAY! I had experienced plenty of pits but these sick f^cks took it to a whole new level. Met Trey and Pete after the show and got a signature and then met David. Talked with him for quite a while and it was a really cool experience. He made a helluva good impression and I could not believe he took so much time to just shoot the shit. My prior experience with most bands had been they try to get the fans out of their way as fast as they can, he was different. I was also a struggling bass player and it was more important at the time to meet him for purely selfish reasons. [Only later in life did I fully come to realize the singularity of what force Trey Azagthoth was in Morbid Angel. If I had it all to do again …….] Domination came out and I had to apply the Two Time Rule again, but there was something beginning to grow in my spirit with the music, just didn’t know what exactly yet. Along came Formulas and that was the “epiphany” for me. The spiritual hunger I had been feeling was full on fed and continued with Gateways and finally Heretic.
Trey has taken me to a peak few ever will understand as most have not ears to hear or eyes to see. MA has been the core of my spiritual life ever since and a constant source of inspiration, strength, and fulfillment.
Along the way I have had some crappy setbacks. In 1995 Hurricane Opal decided to come through Alabama and flood my basement while I was in Oregon with my girlfriend and I lost everything. I had been collecting autographs, tickets, posters, tape trades, fanzines, etc for years prior to that. My pictures with the band from that fantastic evening in Atlanta were gone. My autographs were gone. My posters, sigh. Probably one of the saddest days in my life. Also upon returning back to Dixie my girlfriend was pregnant and I went from being a “kid” to being a full blown adult. I was poor as all get out. No longer able to go to concerts, no longer able to do too much as I willfully poured myself into my family. No regrets as I live and praise the strength granted me.
Now, after many years of struggle I am at the point where I am able to rebuild my collection and looking forward to being able to see them on tour again. It is the strongest desire to meet them once more, shake their hands, and look them each in the eye to express how grateful and thankful to them I am. There are few people who ever realize in this world the unique impact they may have on others and I can honestly say if it was not for the source of strength I found within the music and lyrics of Morbid Angel I would have given up and ceased existing a long time ago. My dream is to meet them again, but this time as a grown man having the full understanding and realization of how powerful their music is.

welcome aboard duder!
You'll be able to find all kinds of cool stuff here. We've been lucky enough to dig up old info on MA's old Fan club and actually have the hard-on bearer who started it post here. Lots of scans and interviews, etc.

Silly me, have not read your intro post until now.
That's some serious stuff! Believe me, you're not the only one that understands how a band like Morbid Angel can change a persons life.
Enjoy your stay!

Yes, this family is the closest I have ever come to finding kindred spirits. To this day people just don't get it I talk with. Some like gospel, some like heroin, some like church, hell some like eating brownies (fresh baked or otherwise

) but for me, it is Morbid Angel. It is truly something magical about their music, and for almost 20 years I have tried to understand. The only concept I can come to is it is spiritual. Then fuckers try to say: So you're a devil worshiper, you hate God, etc... No ass wipe, I think for myself and that is the biggest things I have seen with them. Not being afraid to think outside the paradigm. Challenge authority in the since that if you do not know thyself, you will be controlled and limited by another, and not you. Not too fear. Morbid Angel IS
Enjoying my stay very much
