Ahhh, what could be said about the new record by death metal masters MORBID ANGEL. Illud Divinum Insanus, that divine , insane thing. This is an INSANUSly disappointing release. The return of David Vincent back into the fold doesn’t mean this hearkens back to ye olden days of the morbid ones. And although Tim Yeung does a very good job handling the drum duties, I squawking miss Pete Sandoval. There are some downright techno tracks that sound like they should be blasted from a jeep with the top down at your local 7-Eleven. I’m not going to say this thing outright sucks, but it’s not very good. “Existo Vulgore” was “leaked,” by Season Of Mist and is pretty good. Check it out. Although it sounds like he’s saying “Falcor” in the chorus, it’s a pretty solid track. The rest is pretty forgettable. In my opinion, this record is more like Illud Divinum InsANUS. I am hesitant to say that thing outright sucks just because of the history, but at this point this band has put out more bad records than good. The last track is called “Profundis… Mea Culpa.” Yep, your fault indeed. Disappointing. 2 Fucking Pecks.

I have not read as much as other members, of this I am certain, but this was the first to come out from beginning to end and basically say - It sucks. For the board it very well may not be as big.

Well there seems to be an absence of a certain ornithological piece: a headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety.

the only gripe i have with this review is the 'more bad albums than good' remark which is just plain wrong

To me this ''review'' is biased towards this reviwer's assholism. :redneck:

This review told me nothing but that the reviewer is a ''standard metal only hard-on bearer'' and that he probably wants another Altars Of Madness and maybe a song or two in the style of Blessed and Covenant albums but definatlly NO experimental tracks that started on Blessed Are The Sick and than continued on every other album.

I think that this type of people could never really dive into the neverending and everchanging abyss that is Morbid Angel. And nothing wrong if they can't dive into MA, there are other bands for them to enjoy. But still why the need to write about something you don't like at all, except to make fun out of it?

To me this is a case of ''childish'' reviewing and not the rewiew from craveonline, as many here have said.

You don't ever seem to critique the reviews; rather just insult the reviewer. Is that the PR protocol?

For the record, I love Desolate Ways and Ascent Through the Spheres.

I do NOT like Radikult or Destructos vs. the Earth.

As many have pointed out and pulsar has stated above me here, the cowardly retreat into ad-hominem territory by the blind defenders of this album is becoming increasingly suspicious when their attempts to defend the new album under the heat of the criticisms raised by those skeptical to the band's musical approach utterly fail. Their last ditch hope to somehow undermine the opinion presented by the majority of people here by insulting the personal character of those who hold it; somehow hoping that they are insecure enough about themselves to crumble under the terrible pressure of being insulted and to at last open their feeble minds to the great depth and elevated creativity of songs like Too Extreme! :homework:

I want a continuation of the concepts introduced on Heretic! Trey, if for some reason you ever read this, please, PLEASE give us more delight in the vein of anti-vacuum mic techniques, poly rhythms, and dueling guitar riffs that rival Iron Maiden! Don't abandon the living continuum or let your band of 27 (!) years now dwindle into the realm of the Genitorturers!

I could rant about this all night, but in the end it doesn't matter, because I'll still have the great albums to listen to. :santa:

Pulsar - do you think that only people from SOM and Morbid Angel themselves enjoy in this Illud madness? Well I don't belong to neither of them, I am only a humble listener of Morbid Angel for the last 20 years and I know what makes me happy. Since Heretic in 2003 nothing made me as happy musicwise as Illud Divinum Insanus does in 2011, that's all.

And I don't have a favourite Morbid Angel album, for me their whole discography is my favourite album

themicrulah - you said it ''I could rant about this all night, but in the end it doesn't matter, because I'll still have the great albums to listen to.''

I am happy for you that you will still enjoy in MA albums that you like! Just don't get in the way of others who apreciate an MA album which you don't like.

This is nothing new - MA fans have abandoned the MA ship on every album after Altars. With Blessed and it's classical influences there was a change in the fan-ranks, then on Covenant with it's downtuned sickness, again on Domination because of industrial/militant vibe, than on Formulas because of a new singer and very occult lyrics, after that on Gateways with it's grooviness and finally with Heretic and it's ''heretical'' sound and structure.

But there are still many people who enjoy likewise every Morbid Angel album and also with every new album they allways gained totally new and different fans.

Look, the basics of it all is:

Every single individual has his/her own taste, which can never be questioned. This is pure logics and everybody already knows that his is fact.

So in other words, it's perfectly OK when you or anyone else likes the new MA album. We have nothing against that!

And if you think we do, then you clearly didn't understand what some of us were trying to explain here.

If you're so inclined to keep the peace then keep your bullshit ad-hominem logic to yourself, because as long as you do that there will always be a retaliation pointing out your stupidity.

There's nothing new dur dur dur there's also always been people in relentless defense.

Void - I can see clearly that it's perfectly WRONG to like Illud here! People have a lot against it in every thread.

themicrulah - also nothing new with peoples relentless attack on something they don't like.

It's not wrong to like Illud, I don't think that's ever been the case here. What is wrong is when certain posters start accusing others of not being true Morbid Angel fans just because of their particular opinions about the new album.
Just don't get in the way of others who apreciate an MA album which you don't like.
I don't think he was trying to "get in the way" of you or your opinion. Isn't the point of being on this forum to debate and discuss Morbid Angel, a band we all have strong opinions about. It stands to reason that there will be some conflicting opinions and I think there's absoutely nothing wrong with healthy debate about them.

That review is totally nullified from any consideration based on "more bad albums than good" douchebagery remark. Heretic was the only bad album, and that was because of the production. Musically it sounded like it could be good, but it was just so hard to listen to.

So their entire catalog features genre defining after genre defining album, they put out 1 "production disaster" and what they feel is a misguided followup and they now suck?

I think Lloyd Christmas needs to be introduced to that bird.

Don't forget, it's not about opinions. It's about addressing infrastructure and questioning the genuinity of the identity of something. Relenquish the identity or gist of something and it is something else. To praise that something else is "your" business and considered opinion. To identify it as what it is not with the reference of the recursion of that something's past, it is then not about opinion but trangressing that infrastructure. Get it? You are you and can only be you. Somebody else is not you nor would you call it "you".

Imran's so far been totally :gay: for the new album and I haven't said shit negative about him for that. Do you know why? (And believe me, I've never shied away from talking shit to my PakiCommie fellating lover.)

It's because he isn't a cunt about it. You cannot hide behind the 'people-with-this-opinion-are-persecuted' curtain.

It's not wrong to like it. But it is cunty to say--and I'm only paraphrasing (which is another big word, like "gymnasium")--"you don't like it because you don't allow yourself to like it" or "you don't like it because you don't get it" etc. "I suspect you were never true fans" is pretty weak, as well.

It's also lame to imply that people on here criticizing an album are somehow fucking up the experience for others, or coloring others' opinions, etc. Gimme a break. If your (or anyone's) enjoyment of the 90 second Illud samples is at risk of being ruined by something themicrulah said, then clearly you're not livin' hardcore radical.
