I was gonna ask for "scans", but I'm on a couple of other forums that don't allow for this sort of thing, hence why I didn't just outright ask for it. But I figured it was clear as day though

This. I was thinking it was just me, but I must agree 100%. Maybe his heart and soul are just no longer into this. Hell, is it possible, as cliche as it sounds, he has "grown out of" the music he plays. I get that shit from people all the time "Oh you still listen to heavy metal, you're how old?" like metal was only for kids or some bullshit. Anyway, off my fucking soapbox. Sorry for the rant, I snapped for a moment there, shit! time now

I read the Terrorizer-interview a couple of days ago... the intro was full of shit. The hard-on bearer just writes how great the first David-era was (this isn't shit of course), but that it all went downwards after he'd left... the albums F-H were bad/worse/worst in his opinion and he just gives the readers the feeling Tucker was just a pass-by. And that David ultimately came to rescue the band... MAN THIS hard-on bearer DOESN'T KNOW SHIT. Trey is the only one that kept this band on its throne!



There were some nice thingies I remembered from the interview though:

- that even Thor was surprised by the new material and that he also would have preferred some more classic death metal-stuff on it

- that Trey nowadays has some mixed feelings about F-H, in the way that some of that material was bigger than the technology and mixing skills he could use. He states that the songs expected more out of what was even human possible to play (and he refers to Pete's drumming for example). That probably explains the combination of real drums and beats on this record

- that they actually had to fight hard with the record company to have "Too Extreme" as the opening track which proves to me SOM is definitely concerned about this record



Aside from that it was mainly David's standard enthusiasm about the new record that filled the interview... but we've all heard that already...

Can't wait to read some Trey interviews!

Even for me, who enjoys what I've heard from the samples, find Too Extreme to be a head scracther of an opening track. I guess Trey probably went with the mentality that it's too typical to put a standard song right after the intro, and doing this throws the listener a curveball.

Still annoys me that 2 people I know "out of state" have the issue but can't/don't know how to scan.

Too Extreme being right up front makes sense to me. After the intro it goes straight into the new direction the bands taking, I guess in a "Here. This is what interests us. Now you know" way. Also Too Extreme is likely the most interesting of the electronic inspired songs so putting it up front makes sense. I do actually like the riffing in the beginning of the sample and think it's the closest to an "original" idea I've heard out of all this. Unfortunately the song immediately turns to shit but I think I got my point across.

I agree, the first minute sounded pretty good, then it went a little "soft" for my tastes, then the sample ends. Apparently it's a 7 minute track, so we shall see what the rest holds.



I'm still trying to guess with all the initial BAD reviews it's getting, mainly from the press that is interested in MA to begin with, once the "other" non extreme metal press get their hands on it, will it be a different story



AND do most people even read reviews these days and MA has a large enough of a fanbase that the album will sell well regardless of the fact ?

I have high hopes that Too extreme! as a whole is a pretty cool track.

There have already been some positive reviews on the album. It's obviously a matter of taste, but the metal press in general, will tear apart this album. why? cause of the neverending story of metalheads being close minded.

Also, I believe the album being one of the most anticipated metal album in years, will sell fairly ok at least to some degree.

Some people even if they have read negative reviews, will get it just because they're curious to hear it themselves.

I'm sorry, this is the age of downloading. This album won't sell much unless they can attract a wider audience (which they seem to aim for)

Well all artist sell less records now days due to downloads, but still there is a certain number of profit coming from sales that allows record labels to exist still.

What I meant was that considering that and the bad reviews, still there's quite a bit of people out there ranging from die-hard fans like myself and others who don't mind spending a few bucks to get an original copy of an album that's causing quite a bit of talk.

I think there are still plenty of fans out there that want to get something they can actually HOLD and that is not stored in a hard drive.

I only have a sec so I won't go on a rant but I'll say this; Metal is very possibly the only genre of music that can incorporate any other style and make it work. It's not because Metal is easily fit into other genres or vice versa. It's because Metalheads are extremely forward-thinking and open minded. Obviously not all are but the proofs in the pudding. And the Metal-Hybrid pudding is as dense and richly layered as you could hope for.
