if anyone went to the singapore gig could they post a review and/or setlist please

I read that they played Existo Vulgore for the first time followed by Nevermore during their live in Singapore last Wednesday (25th May). Poster said it was awesome.

I assume that after June sixth they will add 2-3 new songs from Illud to the setlist.

Sucks that those two songs from that gig haven't made it to youtube. I would kill to see Existo performed live.

^^Cool. What I find interesting, and the thing I haven't noticed before, is how they use noise suppressor pedals. I don't know what exactly pedal do they use, but if it is Boss NS2, they don't use it in the noise suppression mode but in the mute mode, which means that every time they stomp on it the signal is off, so there is zero noise, as opposed to when you use in the noise suppression mode, which tonally affects the signal somewhat, and still noise gets through sometimes, depending on volume.

Or is it that they just stomp on/off the RAT?

Do not know if they changed setups. But there never was a noisegate in the MA riggs. Between songs and in stops, they punch de Rat on and off. Both Erik and Punchy told me and i've seen them do it multiple times.

Amps hiss, hum and make noises when on. When adding overdrive or distortion pedals, that noise becomes worse. Noisegates/noise suppressors/silencers/hush are devices to eliminate that.

I tried Wikipedia but very little of it made sense.



My roommate often used to talk about how lots of effects means you cannot screw up, because there's no easy way to cover it up.

Another way, if you have a multiple channel amp, is to turn the volume of the channel you do not use down and switch to that.

How do you set up/connect the NS-2 in your setup?

Uros,you play 6505? Me too! I have the regular one (not the + model) with a 1960A Cab.

If Setlist.fm has been updated by someone who knows the songs by titles too then the setlist has changed quite a lot betweem Singapore (first show) and the melbz show (third show)

I use it mainly before the signal enters the amp input (gtr-->Bad Monkey-->GE7 (optional)-->NS2 input-->NS2 output-->amp input - so I don't use it as suggested by Boss (they recommend to put any pedal in the loop)).

I've used the X-pattern also, which apparently not only kills feedback, but it also filters noise which is generated by the preamp section of the amp. I've tried it out because 6505 is rather noisy amp, but I haven't seen much if any difference, so I am back to this the most basic way. Anyway, some people swear by this method, so here's the pic if you want to try it out:











Anyway, since NS2 has this mute mode, I'll try it out, it might yield interesting results. I can see how it can be 99% non-destructive way of killing feedback, as I don't have footswitch.

I use that one too, except that I use it in conjunction with its matching cab, which is loaded with Sheffields.

I asked because not many people know the X way of using it.

I use a ProRackG by decimator. Quiet but it still does feedbacks nicely.



Haven't got firsthand experience with the 6505, but i've used a 5150 I, and those are pretty noisy too.

the X wireing differs with a serial or parralel effects loop.

Yeah, it doesn't really work with parallel loops, which can be found on Mesas, for example.



Decimator is a gate as far as I can tell?



Anyway, not really the same thing as NS2, which is an expander. Decimator is killer stuff, and it sure does cost like it

The decimator is a development from the guys who designed the rocktron Hush. It is a awesome device. But indead very expensive. The technology is very interesting. On their site there is a elaborated explanation of the tech behind it. It does work with an expander i believe but also there is another thingy in there.
