As I understand it Lord Of All Fevers... was not included on the original LP release of Altars of Madness but was instead included on a later CD release.



Was this the original CD release or a later reissue?



Does anyone know why it was left off the original LP? They obviously recorded and mixed it in the same session as it has the same sound and production.



Any info on this topic would be much appreciated?

It was on orginal cd but on vinyl first time was -91 Rock Brigade/Earache.

I thought they just did not have enough room on the vinyl. But back in the days the bonusses were on the CD's as it was a newer format, as opposed to now where the LP versions are the special editions.

What do you mean? That Lord of all fever was released on a vinyl version of altars later on?

Exactly, released by Rock Bridge. Catalogue number - RBR 330/91

Was that a european release or other?

I´m not sure it´s a Brazilian label, maybe it´s released only there.

I thought it might be something to do with time constraints. I wonder why they dropped that one of the vinyl edition. Its one of their more popular songs (I think) and they still play it live today so they obviously don't have a problem with it as a song.

Uni777 is right. It was nothing to do with time constraints whatsoever. On a 12 inch vinyl album, you can fit up to 21 minutes per side without any discernible loss of sound quality. This fact is very well known. Side one of the vinyl edition of "Altars" had a running length of just under 16 minutes! There was more than ample space to include "Lord of All Fevers..."



This is especially true, considering that the 2nd side ran for just over the 19 minute mark.



The track was used as a buying incentive for the, then new CD format. (Bare in mind that CD's cost on average, twice as much as their vinyl counterparts at the time.... A calculated ploy, if ever there was one, to inflate the cost of music... And one which ultimately backfired massively on the music industry with the emergence of MP3's)

I understand the thing about the track being an incentive to buy the CD version but I think I may have misunderstood one of you in some way...

I understand this to mean that they couldn't fit all the tracks on the LP version.



If I've interpreted the quotation above correctly then isn't this post a contradiction.

Sorry if I've misconstrued someone I'm just making sure that I understand what each of you are saying.

I thought of two options. He affirmed the second one.



I should have used "however" instead of "but".

So it was a marketing ploy, right? I remember reading that bonus tracks are popular in U.S. ---> Overseas situations, and probably also for die hard U.S. fans who buy the material for a jacked up price.

The Japanese market is esp. fond of extra's the rest of the world do not get.

Usually the Limited ed. contain bonus tracks and goodies. However in most cases it is more expensive and thus no "bonus"'.



Some editions which contain covertracks might differ on different continents because of copyrights.
