Now that we've heard I and it's starting to become old news, we should start the speculation all over again with the next one already!

now that it's been available for ~12 hours I is a dead topic.
i really wonder if they'll continue after this, i guess that will depend heavily on how it sells and how successful their supporting tours do.

I think they will do a J album. Hopefully with Pete amongst their ranks at that point the material will take a few steps back (Or forward, whichever way you look at it) to more familiar ground. I'm all for the band pushing themselves, reinventing themselves and not stagnating but Illud is a completely reckless idea. Even if it sells well....

I don't think they'll come to a J album. I get the impression that they're burnt out.

it would be impossible for them to make a comeback after this
steve and pete would need to come back, david would have to be destroyed by destructos, and trey needs a techo-electronic-lobotomy

first things first: dave gets refired, tucker gets rehired. I respect what david did on A-C, and his vocals weren't that bad on D but some of the lyrics were. Tucker's vocals, and lyrics, were always awesome on F-H.
second things first: rutan once again gets drafted for production, but TOTAL production and mixing.
third things first: trey drops some acid and listens to A-G. absolutely none of this techno shit. its awesome and all, I like techno myself, but it has no place on a morbid angel record.
fourth things first: write some awesome fucking death metal, perhaps another Invocation-style ~12 min track. thats the one thing that bothered me, trey really hasn't written any awesome 12min+ epics except Invocation.

I like the overall sentiment of course, just a few tweaks:
first things first: dave gets refired, tucker gets rehired.
second things first: rutan once again gets drafted for 2nd guitar. (not that it would happen, busy with HE) Fleming R. for mixing and production
third things first: trey does NO MORE drugs! Focuses on making good guitar music again.
fourth things first: write some awesome fucking death metal, perhaps another Invocation-style ~12 min track. thats the one thing that bothered me, trey really hasn't written any awesome 12min+ epics except Invocation

personally I don't want to see rutan back on second guitar, he's far too busy with hate eternal anyways so it'd mean the end of hate eternal or an indefinite hiatus (which after phoenix amongst the ashes, would suck majorly cos phoenix was awesome). it'd be awesome to have rutan back, but I think thor is an apt replacement.
I also think trey's psychedelic experiences in the early days were what shaped some of the odd riffing and ideas that was present on the earlier material.

Yeah the Rutan thing was just an ideal; wouldn't want to take away from HE either. i will always maintain though the 4 of them was a powerful era.
Ahah the drug thing is based on my own ideas of the brain and drug use. When i was in audio school, I started to get these ideas about analog tape bias and drug use and how it affects the brain.
Bias is basically an electrical current added to magnetic tape which acts as a "frequency carrier". It tweaks the magnetism just right to get the best frequency response: to bring out the potential of the tape. I think an "unaffected" brain is just like fresh tape in that it needs that same tweak - especially that it is an electrical organ - to hoist the brain frequencies into a more creative and active state: into it's potential. But just like bias, you can go too far. Tweaking the bias for tape isn't an advantageous exponential process; there's a point where quality starts to go downhill and I think it's analogous to "frying the brain" from doing too much. I had written a small thing about this if i can find it I can add to this brief explanation.

or may be that was enough lol

Cool thanks!
I suppose the indicator for anybody of having gone too far or starting to go to far is when the superlative becomes getting high/messed up
rather than the art. lol So in other words it becomes all about the drug/high rather than using it as a tool or means.
Which aspect of it are you into ?

To those here that have no problem with humiliating Morbid Angel (music or band members) with the lowest of behaviours - I hope that most of you WON'T like the J album, because you don't deserve it and obviously it's not meant for you, if you are using your evil mind for new ideas on how to insult MA even more and more!
If you think, I've ''insulted'' you with this, just read the whole thread from beginning and you will see insults and humiliation towards Morbid Angel in almost every post.
FALL FROM GRACE - would be a good name for your behaviour, but I'm afraid you never really witnesed this GRACE / ESSENCE of Morbid Angel to begin with.
