It sounds like it's buried under thick sludge. Which is all well and good but domination does it too much.

There's a lot of mainstreamy moments in it and the latter half (after This means war) just drags on into silly territory, although I do like the black sabbath esque intro to Ceaser's Palace.

Overall though it's a nice album with plenty of groove and very colorful solos, but it's marred by a loss of intensity that most of their other albums possess

I like just some few songs from domination, like dominate, ceasr's palace, riffs from where the slime lives, dawn of angry, nothing but fear. I just dont find myself flowing with the album. Heretic has some really great track others are just meh. Also domination has the douche lyrics and vocals sucks too just like illud.

I'm not sure if we mentioned this one before but Eyes to see, ears to hear is one their biggest swinging song. But I don't like it much. Sounds like Dimmu Borgir :vomit:

I dont think it matches with any other song i mentioned on that thread. The Main riff is good and the other one breaks it just like other songs in domination some riffs are very good and others ruins it. There are very few songs in domination which i like in whole.

I know what you mean. I think it's the cheesiness that makes it feel unorganic and can not be classified as a true swinger :ba:

And yeah this album has good riffs but parts for nearly all the songs just take the edge off of it. If you want a more intense domination type of album try Mithras - forever advancing legions. It's got very similar sounding guitars but the drums are more attacking and up front. It also has this mystical ancient European/Asian feel to it that's really special.

Musically, Domination is fucking :xx::::;; but lyrically it is meh and vocally it is just okay. The mix doesn't really help it.

I just knew the name of band, listening the first time

This sounds very different kind of BDM, with some feelings in it :xx:

BDM as in blackened death metal? I never really hear that too much in their sound but i know what you mean. The original vocalist for the band Raynar Coss did all three of their albums so far and mostly delivered death vocals but Sam Bean here gave it a black metal touch with his vocals for their live stuff. The overall atmosphere on their last two records could be considered black metal. A somewhat Heretic production for them too. Harder to get into than their first album but the songs start to really stick to you after repeated listens. Mithras are a rare band that combine beauty with brutality in it's most pure form so they leave a great impression.

I believe they are working on their fourth full length :xx: :xx: :xx: :thingy:

No i just meant fruital death metal(read it on metallum).

What I meant was that most of the fruital-death metal bands try to make more technical and fruital music, without putting any feelings to it. This one is pretty different.

sorry for the confusion :santa:

Both D and H sucks.

Its a shame cause Trey did a good job on Domination ...

but the production + vincent + bad lyrics makes it unlistenable.

I don't like Disco's cheesy vocals on a lot of the tracks and some of the lyrics are pretty questionable. I especially hate the titles of the songs This Means War and Inquisition (Burn With Me) the latter being a pretty terrible song. "Are ya gonna burn with me?" :redneck:::::::::::

back in the day, Domination was the first MA album I owned and also listen to all the way through. I had heard a couple of songs off of Covenant, but not the whole album. however, once I heard the A,B,C, and especially F, it became my least favorite MA album until Heretic came out.

It's pretty easy to see why Trey was so disappointed with it. The songs were musically excellent.

I like inquisition. In fact the only song I don't like on it is wtsl because its really almost as overplayed as Chapel. Killer solo, but let's move on please...

The riffs of Dawn of angry also are one of the most beautiful piece Trey ever wrote. :xx:

the vocals are kind of dominate style so i am finding it good.

I must say, Domination has some VERY influential songs.

I already made a 'Songs that sound like Where the slime live' thread:

And now check this at 3.30:

Doesn't this have a Dawn of the angry vibe in it?

I see what you mean about the dawn of the angry riff. But i think they also done a good job of making it NOT sound like it at the same time :interessant: .

I totally agree... :xx: the beginning of the solo too has a bit of lava atmosphere to it
