I know the feeling. Trey's ideas to my ears are that he understands what makes a good idea really tick. He isn't concerned with overly technical playing for a bombarding aural assault. He understands brutality through simplicity and letting the riffs really shine by themselves without it coming across stale or redundant. Which is a rare and difficult thing to do. Pete also helps this aspect too of course with his goal of velocity. The end result they are the Black Sabbath of death metal.

Trey and Pete are 2 humans who play and write music on unconscious level. Its very strong and hit my unconscious, it is flowing with the music.
The new album is more like consciously planned and structured to achieve the Trey's concepts behind "I". Thats why it sounds weak and unidirectional.

Wow... great to see this live, and it's one of the best songs off of "Heretic." I would have loved to see MA continue down this warped trip into Trey's mind instead of their recent material that pays too much attention to outside influences.

How can you be conscious of your unconscious?

Its like the unconscious driving me into something,,, showing me things, I cant exactly explain the height of feelings i get from MA music. But about knowing of the unconscious i have a explain a lot of other things.
One thing i can say is that its not your conscious which decides that you like a particular piece of music. Its something your unconscious tells what you like it, disliking/liking is not consciously controlled. MA's music is so powerful and pure that it goes deep into unconscious and gives the feelings the conscious cant explain. Thats the reason i stated that Trey and pete write music based on purely personal believes/feelings not consciously planed to achieve some external sound.
