I wonder if this is legitimately potential album art or just just new thingie VadimVon posted to promote his KhaosArt via Morbid Angel's MySpace account (along with all of the other advertisements).

It is considerably better than the Teenager-on-Photoshop style stuff that was going up before.

Is it just me or does he seem to just be throwing up his art now and slapping a Morbid Angel logo on it to get tons of MySpace compliments?

yeah, he started doing it a lot more lately. personally i think he is abusing his position.

drastic improvement over the older stuff (barring the border and flames and whatever that red structure thinger behind the...hard-on bearer, there, those both look like campy filters to me), but i still don't care for it. the contrast between the foreground and background really doesn't work, the bold outlines and more solid coloring of the former really clash with the soft lines and more gradated shading of the latter, there's no cohesion to the image at all. it gives the impression that they were composed separately and the foreground was just kinda layered on top just for the hell of it. the top/left bordering also suggest there's more to it (like we're only looking at a quadrant of a larger image or some-such), but i'm not sure where it could really lead with what's already there, so it's just distracting and ugly.



i'm also curious as to whether this stuff is commissioned/sanctioned by the band or if it's more like what zim and the vermonter lady describe :hmm:

i don't think any of this posted art goes through the band, they probably just told him they'll accept anything with the logo on it.



i hope they get dan seagrave to do the album artwork :seagraveobsession: now he is an artist, not a photoshop'ist

and, the mirroring of the background in almost all his work is so lame. Kids did that back in '96!

and now, the foregrounds are looking half mirrored as well.



it might have worked (a little) with the Domination cover, but not with this stuff.

the background is mirrored because its symmetrical and symmetry represents order which obviously plays second fiddle to ALMIGHTY ANTIKOSMIK KHAOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

The first pic looks shitty. The 'fire flower' one is less bad.



But...I keep thinking if they want dceent cover art, why not get Venosa to do an awesome painting like he's done for both Cynic albums? This Vadim hard-on bearer strikes me as more of a hack every time I see new stuff from him, though I will admit that I still ike this piece by him:

I have to admit I like this one too, colors are too vibrant but at least it is relevant to Morbid Angel.

who the fuck did they design the splash page layout for? just for shits and giigles, i connected my TV as a second monitor at 1920x1080, and you STILL can't see the 'enter' graphic at the bottom with the browser maximised.



questionable content and absolutely thoughtless layout, i sincerely hope MA isn't actually paying these guys.
