Hey Everyone
Next month sees a release that many people will have been waiting
since 1998 Morbid Angel's 'Formulas Fatal to The Flesh' for the First
Time On Vinyl! Following on from the almighty 'Domination' album and
with the departure of David Vincent still fresh in everyone's minds
Morbid Angel returned with an unrivaled ferocity, invoking the
Sumerian spirits of old and reminding everyone just how Death Metal
should be written, when many of the scenes leading bands had
misguidedly changed direction or lacked any originality!
Now released on vinyl for the first time 'Formulas Fatal To the
Flesh' is housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve and presented on either
black, red, clear or an extremely limited lava coloured vinyl! The
Lava vinyl is only available at the Earache Webstores and limited to
just 100 copies so be sure to order yours now as this is going to sell
out fast!

Yes that's correct, but not very active though. I like this board (and band) better.

And the Lava version is already sold out.
Nice that MA boardmembers had their fair chance to buy this.
"One of the most legendary bands in death metal, Morbid Angel have sold well over a million albums worldwide! This release is part of the ‘First Time on Vinyl’ campaign, plugging the gaps in the Earache catalogue previously unavailable on wax.
Originally released in 1998, "Formulas Fatal To The Flesh" marked the dawning of a new era for Morbid Angel, with the introduction of new vocalist/bassist Steve Tucker to the band.
Though the album featured the more traditional blasting death metal for which the band became known, it also included more experimental instrumental pieces, showcasing a new diversity and ambition. Also featuring a new conceptual twist, some tracks include lyrics written in ancient Sumerian, whilst musically, this is as extreme and varied as Morbid Angel ever got."
This piece of text suggests that Gateways and Heretic will also get their vinyl release in the -near- future.

They were initally released on vinyl. Gateways just a normal LP, Heretic as a PD.
Formula's was not released as LP. And i am not sure about the Live album......
I'm not buying this btw. I have a bad feeling about all these special releases coming from earache.. I have multiple versions of almost every release. It is getting silly. I am glad i was able to get most of my stuff signed a while back. And i am content with that.
To everybody who has been able to score a version: CONGRATS

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about these LP releases. Normally I am also not very eager to buy vinyl anymore, but this lava version was clearly a now-or-never decision and an immediate collector's item. I hope it will turn out great looking!
How did you get your stuff signed btw? I tried to get them to sign my Thy kingdom come EP, but couldn't get close at all

Depending on the venue, you can probably just meet up with them out back. The way a couple of venues are set up here, I usually just walk around back and hang out with the bands after gigs.
I tend to steal their beer in the process.

They are quite hard to get hold off at venues. Usually Trey gets fed up fairly quickly with signing stuff. They like their privacy, who can blame them.. After the show he likes to mingle.
We were asked to do a show with them in Beglium a few years back. (when Erik was back for that festival tour).
I just wrapped all my stuff in Bubblewrap and took it along in my flightcases.
I was the first to ask them to sign stuff. And everything was signed by them. Pete and David really made an effort. Erik was cool as always. A few months earlier he was in europe for that hate eternal tour with Reno on drums, for which he used my gear for some rehearsels. So it was cool speaking to him again. Trey was a little pre occupied. After I left he refused to sign the merch from other another dude who's band played there.
I could not believe he turned that other hard-on bearer down.. He did not bring as much stuff as i had with him but it was clear he was a huge fan.
And the hard-on bearer was really polite. Not some drunk ass yelling being obnoxious.

I got most of my stuff signed while I was still iving in The Netherlands. Just hang around before and after the gig. Sometimes Pete or Dave will walk around during the support acts. Some stuff I got signed when I was in Florida in the early 90's and met pete and Erik. The last gigs in Sydney and Brisbane I just went to see Punchy the tour manager and ended up spending an afternoon with Pete, Thior and Dave looking at koala's (Trey is nocturnal, usually doesn't come out during the day). After the show I met Trey but he had some female friends there so that was a just quick handshake and pic. Dave, Pete and Thor actually went for drinks with a few of the fans that were waiting behind the venue. Just got try I suppose.

I was nocturnal from about 16-25. It became impractical later on, but was inspirational during.

I'm pretty much nocturnal at weekends and holidays myself. It's pretty hard although when you "have" to go to school/work.

Received the Lava edition yesterday.
It looks neat, but the vinyl looks also a bit silly imo. The vinyl seems to look like a 'round bag alsmost filled with lava' I'd expected it to look a bit more like splatter-vinyl.
Different bandphoto's also in the sleeve than in the cd version.
BTW I saw the Blessed are the sick picture disc in a store last weekend and it dissapointed me: way too darkish photo's.

Got mine yesterday!
I think it's really cool. The paint on the LP's aren't really looking like lava, they're just really orange. One of them (A/B) has a little green in it too, which I think is cool. The inside band picture is one I never saw before. It's not on the old website either.
I'll make pictures soon.
This thing is awesome.

Yes I suspected such when I read your post. I'm very curious about your version.
I don't understand the pinkish edges though.
What I miss is the great incantation from the CD booklet.
I really dig the bigger artwork though: much more detail-revealing to me

The great incantation of the living continuum. It's practically half of the booklet. How did you manage to mis this?
